Lovely place for a Spring break

5 of 5
This is our third stay at Capalia and our first time in the Cilento in Spring. On both counts we were delighted. Spring is beautiful in the area and can be quite dramatic (on day 1 we experienced an almighty storm). Most of the time the landscape was washed in sunshine. Capalia has a lovely fireplace and we had plenty of wood left for us to burn. We had some very nice evenings sipping wine by the fire!!! Great place to unwind.

Good experience with accommodation, bad experience with HomeAway

5 of 5
I was very satisfied with the accommodation. equipment fits the description. The owner was very friendly. We spent a good two weeks. Unfortunately, discrepancies in the ordering procedure with HomeAway was a black dot. The Agency communicates only to payment for the stay and then not respond to queries by e-mail. After more than five weeks after the end of the stay, I was not returned deposit. He had to send it to property owner.

Santa Maria's beautiful!

4 of 5
Well equipped and close to the town. A steep walk up from the town but worth it. It only took us 8 minutes. Wonderful area to visit and the villa is a great base to start day trips in the surrounding area from. Pastum is well worth a visit and a good place to eat out with lots of lovely restaurants especially good was a restaurant called Domus Clelia, class and value. Angel caves at Pertosa are great and the boat trips to see the grottos from the port of Palinuro well worth it. Catch the train from Agropoli into Napoli and then take the sightseeing bus tour. Views from the surrounding towns are amazing and the sunsets spectacular. Definitely go have a look around Pompei, it's stunning. Villa Elaia is very well equipped and comfortable with the outside space a real treat. The WiFi is a bit intermittent though, and the pool opening times and little frustrating, particularly after a hot day out? Nice to have a BBQ. The Italians are very erratic drivers, you take your life in your hands if you hire a car, so be brave and do like they do! It is important to use co-ordinate on the sat-nav rather than addresses. The villa is at - N 40 17 11.4 E 14 57 05.9. Driving through Naples is an experience to say the least! If you hire a car from the airport the co-ordinates for returning the vehicle are N 40 52 26.43 E 14 16 53.2 We made the mistake of avoiding the toll roads when the sat-nav gave us the option, stupid! I advise you to opt for the 2 euro toll road, to avoid being guided through the centre of the cities. Not somewhere you'll enjoy driving! Al Fonso is a good host, and very friendly. An improvement might be an information pack in the Villa with local information and details of locations such as the nearest supermarket, places to visit, and train times? Overall a beautiful area to visit and a lovely Villa.
