Padova (Padua) is an ancient university town in the Veneto region of Italy, just 30km from Venice. Like many of Italy’s important artistic towns, Padua is filled with beautiful buildings, wonderful parks and priceless masterpieces. Although Padua is a delightful place to take a holiday rental, few tourists have taken the time to explore Padua, leaving it free from tourists and still fantastically Italian in atmosphere. Padua is now Veneto’s main economic centre, managing to perfectly combine its rich history, youthful university population and economic successes.

Things to do in Padova, Italy

Padua is full of attractions, and when you first arrive at your self catering Padua property, a leisurely walk around the town is a perfect way to get your bearings and start your discovery of the many hidden treasures that the town holds. The Cappella degli Scrovegni is Padua’s most famous sight, adorned inside by beautiful frescos by the artist Giotto. The stunning Basilica of St Anthony of Padua is certainly worth visiting from Padua accommodation, but there are many places of interest among the historic streets of the centre of town. The town art gallery is particularly impressive too, and anyone with an interest in art must take the time to investigate. If you need a short break in the sun during your sightseeing tours of Padua, there are some magnificent parks in which to sunbathe.

Scattered in the Colle Euganei Hills that surround Padua are a number of famous spa centres. The natural mineral springs that burst out from the earth have healing and soothing qualities, and a day of pampering in Padua’s spas is something that becomes very hard to resist! These hills are not only a fine spa destination, but also offer some magnificent terrain for walkers and cyclists. The roads throughout the Colle Euganei Hills are always littered with scattered groups of cyclists exploring the Veneto countryside, and there are some wonderful routes available from the Padua tourist information office.

Wonderful house in a great setting

5 of 5
We very much enjoyed our stay at Maurizio's comfortable, beautifully decorated and fully equipped house. The excellent airconditioning was much appreciated. Teolo is a lovely village, with several shops and restaurants, from where you can do lots of walking and cycling in the beautifully Colli Euganea or go for day trips to nearby walled and spa towns or Padova and Venice. We had a lovely week without needing a car, doing lots of local walking and dining.
