Make a holiday rental home or apartment in Musso, Italy your home away from home

Musso is a charming village which is located in a narrow inlet at the foot of a rocky spur known as the Sasso di Musso, on the northern shore of Lake Como, Italy. With a population of just 1,000 Musso is not one of the larger holiday rental destinations on the lake, but if you are seeking a relaxed and traditional base from which to enjoy this spectacular region, you may just have found it. Musso also has a small ferry port, making it a great base from which to explore the surrounding area.

Things to do in Musso, Italy

Musso was once renowned for its marble, which was used to build notable sights such as the Cathedral of Como; and the marble quarries can still be seen today in the rock-face of the Sasso di Musso spur. Enjoying a walk around this area is the favourite pastime of locals and tourists alike, and with little traffic travelling though Musso it is the perfect opportunity to fill your lungs with plenty of cool, crisp, fresh air.

The Church of San Biagio is a Romanesque structure that is well worth a visit when in town. The church dates back to the 13th century, and although major alterations have been made over the centuries, parts of the original structure do still exist. Another interesting religious building is the Church of Sant’Eufemia, which sits on the shoulder of Sasso di Musso and can be seen from many miles around.

There are many ways in which to traverse the fringes of the lake, and one of the best is by bicycle. Push-bikes are easy to hire in many of lake’s towns and villages, and allow you to cover far more than you would be able to on foot. The use of a car, however, is a near necessity in this rural part of the lake.

Places to visit on holiday in Musso, Italy

Musso borders Dongo to the north and Pianello del Lario to the south. Both are just 1km away, meaning if you fancy going somewhere different for a meal and a couple of glasses of wine, but do not want to take the car, it is possible to do so. Also worth a look is Colico, which faces Musso across the lake and has excellent transport links with Milan and beyond.

Weather in Musso, Italy

The best time of year in which to visit Musso will depend on personal preference, but only those who can handle hot and humid weather should visit in the peak tourist months of July and August. Spring is a pleasant time for a holiday in Musso, as temperatures are still warm (20-25C) but the humidity has not quite reached its peak.

Flights to Musso, Italy

The best way of getting to your self-catering accommodation in Musso is to fly to one of the three Milan airports, then make the remainder of the journey by hire car. At 68km Milan Malpensa (MXP) is the nearest of the trio, and receives flights from UK destinations such as London Heathrow (British Airways), Bristol and London Luton (both easyJet).

Super modern apartment

4 of 5
We loved our stay in San Siro. It's a super apartment although perhaps a bit tight in the living area for more than 4 adults. Before we arrived I read a review where someone complained about the kitchen knives? I remember thinking how pathetic! Actually, Gary, you could do with a decent sharp bread knife, lol . Aside from that, it really is super and we would highly recommend

Excellent & well positioned for travel

5 of 5
This is an excellent property, very clean, light and well proportioned. We had an excellent stay, thoroughly enjoyable, this property is nice an quiet and the lovely pool is a welcome bonus. An excellent area in which to base yourself as public transport links, whether by road or water are excellent. We had a hired car but hardly needed it. I can really recommend this property for a nice relaxing holiday and will definitely be back.
