Make a holiday rental home or villa in Monterotondo, Italy your home away from home

Monterotondo is a medium-sized town in the Rome Province, Lazio, and is situated 27km north-east of the capital. The commune offers a rural base from which to explore the region, with countryside views and outdoor activities to be enjoyed, but is conveniently located just 30 minutes away from big city attractions. For those that want both a peaceful, rejuvenating holiday, but also want to incorporate a cultural, fun-filled break to the capital, Monterodondo represents the perfect compromise.

Things to do in Monterotondo, Italy

Holiday rental accommodation in Monterotondo offers visitors the best of both worlds: A scenic countryside base where they can relax, take in the views, walk, hike, cycle and explore, but also a conveniently located town that has all of the attractions of Italy’s capital literally on their doorstep.

The area around the town is extremely rural and perfect for those who want to detach themselves from the rat race and unwind. A great place to do this is the nearby Marcigliana Nature Reserve, which has several kilometres of nature trails, walks and hikes hidden amongst its hills and dense woodland. The area is also a working farm, with cows and sheep often found wandering around – also meaning the local produce can be sampled and purchased.

Montretondo is one of several small towns and villages just to the north of Rome which make for great exploring. Another place worthy of a visit is the historical Latin town of Mentana, which has an interesting archaeological museum housed in its town castle – which itself dates back to the 11th Century.

Places to visit on holiday in Monterotondo, Italy

Long, hot summer characterise the local climate, meaning Monterotondo receives temperatures above 30C on regular days from June to September. Winter visitors can still expect average temperatures of above 10C.

Bargain flights are they for the taking, so shop around.

location, location, location

we stayed a while ago in this extremely well located apartment ; it is the combination of the location- literally in the shadow of the Pantheon- and the quietness ( you actually hear nothing but some birds) that make this place so unique. In a rather shabby little street you get access to the apartment through a beautiful green door with polished copper details. After approx. 60 steps -no there is no elevator- you enter the beautifully decorated apartment that easily sleeps 4 ( two large bedrooms and two rather small but well equipped bathrooms). If you decide not to take your morning coffee in one of the excellent bars in the neighboring streets, you can take advantage of the kitchen and do the coffee routine ( or cook a complete meal if you feel like doing that) yourself. In the adjacent living room , a very large and another large sofa allow you to sit back and relax after another buzzy day in ancient Rome. And if you want, you can even step outside and enjoy the small yet inviting terrace!! candles lights make the romantic picture complete. obviously, there is room for improvement: the floor isn't exactly what you would be looking for , but I understand from the owner that overtime, together with more improvements, this issue will be tackled . So all in all , great experience and a place to come back to.
