Make a holiday apartment in Montecorice your home away from home

HomeAway can help you pick the holiday apartment in Montecorice that meets your needs. Just in from the Cilento Coast, Montecorice is a picturesque village tucked in a mountainous landscape, not far from unspoiled beaches and ancient archeological sites. Montecorice holiday homes tend to be historic stone buildings lovingly restored and updated with modern conveniences. The climate here is almost perfect, and there’s no better way to spend a balmy evening than over an al fresco meal – holiday homes in Montecorice make this possible with barbecues and lots of space for outdoor dining.

Things to do

-Beaches. Here you’ll be on the Cilento coast, a long stretch of craggy coves and pebble beaches protected by a national park. Such is the water quality that the Cilentan coast has more blue flag beaches than any other part of Campania. The nearest sandy beach can be found just a few minutes away at Punta Lucosa.

-Nature. The landscape here is stunning, with pine clad mountains and valleys lined with vineyards. Montecorice is within the Cilento National Park, so you can be sure that the countryside is unspoiled and tranquil. The mountains offer fabulous views of the Cilentan coast, with a large system of marked trails to suit both intrepid and casual walkers.

-Cuisine. Fish is an important part of the local diet, and can be savoured in dishes like spaghetti with clams, fish broth, octopus with tomatoes and fried anchovies. Meat is often served grilled alongside barbecued vegetables. The province is also known for its excellent tomatoes and citrus fruits – lemons are used to make the famous limoncello liqueur.

-Paestum. For a dose of ancient history, Paestum is just a short drive up the coast on the way to Salerno. It’s a small town boasting incredibly preserved Greek Doric temples from the 6th Century BC. There are three here in the archaeological park, as well as the remnants of a gymnasium, ancient houses, walls, tombs and defensive towers.

-Day trips. There are lots of interesting things to see within an easy drive. You could make for Salerno, which has a beautiful cathedral built in the 1100s or check out the picturesque town of Amalfi, framed by rugged mountains. Vesuvius is on the way to Naples, as is the ancient city of Pompeii, buried and preserved by an eruption 2000 years ago.

Weather in Montecorice

Montecorice has just the kind of weather that you’d want from a Mediterranean destination. Conditions are warm here from the start of May through to October, rising to more than 30 degrees during the day in July and August. In mid-summer rainfall is very rare, but occurs more frequently in September and October despite the high temperatures. Winters are moderate in Montecorice – during the day temperatures normally get up to 15 degrees and tend not to slip far below ten degrees at night. Spring has very mild weather, with occasional warm days.

Travel to Montecorice

To reach a Montecorice apartment from the UK you could fly via Naples Airport (NAP), which sits about 90 minutes to the north of the village. Naples is served by a wide range of airlines – most of the routes are only seasonal, but some airlines offer flights all year round. The drive down to Montecorice is relatively simple – you could take either the coastal A3 or the inland A 30 in the direction of Salerno, before joining the provincial SS18. It’s also possible to get the train from Naples to the nearby town of Omignano, changing at Salerno.

Lovely place for a Spring break

5 of 5
This is our third stay at Capalia and our first time in the Cilento in Spring. On both counts we were delighted. Spring is beautiful in the area and can be quite dramatic (on day 1 we experienced an almighty storm). Most of the time the landscape was washed in sunshine. Capalia has a lovely fireplace and we had plenty of wood left for us to burn. We had some very nice evenings sipping wine by the fire!!! Great place to unwind.

Wonderful property

5 of 5
La Boungaville is a wonderful place to stay.On our arrival is was immaculate and our hosts Franco and Concetta had left a welcome package of teas and honey and chocolate plus a bottle of local wine. They were friendly and so helpful with advice . The apartment was lovely. It was very well appointed and very comfortable. We would highly recommend a stay at La Boungaville where you will be warmly treated
