The countryside surrounding Montaione is covered in Chianti vineyards, providing the area with a surplus of fantastic sweet wines. There are plenty of opportunities for vineyard tours from a Montaione property, and no experience in wine tasting is required in order to enjoy a great afternoon sampling the best the region can produce. There are several archaeological sites in and around Montaione which make for fascinating viewing. There are a handful of Etruscan sites in and around the town, but it is the Roman ruins at Muraccio which really capture the imagination. The Church of San Biagio holds secrets too. The atmosphere and way of life has changed little over the years, meaning that there are few places in Italy where you can relax with such ease. The town is adorned with fantastic little family owned restaurants, cafes and boutiques where your every whim is catered for with great hospitality.

We spent a wonderful week in this beautiful villa in early Aug. I have no hesitation recommending Casa Gabriella to anyone looking to spend quality time in Tuscany. The villa has all anyone would require to ensure a relaxing holiday. Magnificent grounds surrounding the large pool. The nearest town of Montaione offers lovely restaurants, bars, and fabulous views over the countryside. All of this within easy drives of San Gimiagno, Sienna and the home home town of Andrea Bocelli, Lajatico. Next time we visit Italy we will certainly return to this beautiful place.
