Molazzana is a ancient hill town with a population of just over 1,000 people, and if you are searching for a lesser-visited destination from which to enjoy the Lucca region of Tuscany, this could be it. The village is extremely rural and perfect for a week or two of relaxation, fine food and wine, and re-charging the batteries on a true 'get away from it all' break.

Things to do in Molazzana, Italy

In general, Tuscany is a rural region, and Molazzana is the epitome of this – a small, unspoilt village that is rarely flooded with tourists. As you may expect, attractions in the village revolve mainly around enjoying the great outdoors and having a true Tuscan experience, rather than visiting attractions of the man-made variety.

Molazzana is a great place in which to enjoy a self-catering holiday, with the local climate almost designed for enjoying long lunches and lazy afternoons on the terrace of your Molazzana holiday rental villa, with a glass of local wine in one hand and perhaps a book in the other. Tuscany is famous for its cuisine, and Molazzana is a great place in which to sample the local offerings.

Being high up in the hills, outstanding and far-reaching views can be enjoyed from all over the village. If you decide to venture out into the countryside you can find some excellent walking and hiking tracks, where you can be at one with nature and enjoy a feeling of serenity quite unlike almost anywhere else in Europe.

Lovely house in great surroundings, large clean swimming pool, good outdoor eating area.

4 of 5
Our stay was spoilt by the weather. Only 4 days of sun in 2 weeks. Owner very easy to get on with...happy to help at all times.. definetly need a car as no supermarket or small shops to hand. Kitchen could better equipped with more bowls and mugs. All pillows rather hard and we felt each bed should have at least 2. We enjoyed our stay..visited the hills, lovely Lucca and by train to a very busy Florence .

Charming Tuscan Gem

5 of 5
This delightful villa was the perfect place for our 3 generational family summer holiday. Chosen for its accommodation, pool and location close to Pisa and Lucca this period villa with its stunning mountain backdrop on the edge of the town of Camaiore lived up to all our expectations. Greeted by the owners on arrival, our limited Italian and English jointly allowed us to understand the intricacies of the Italian rubbish recycling system, electrics, alarms,Wi-fi, pool and electric gates with "Phone Sonia" as the default when something unexpected needed to be explained! The accommodation is perfectly arranged, south facing with 3 different outside terraces which caught the sun or shade depending on the time of day and the pool was in the sun continuously. A small building to the side of the villa contains a quiet retreat with seating, coffee and comfortable sofas for those looking to escape the main house for a hour or so. In through the main door and to your right is the larger living room with TV,satellite and DVD sofa chairs and table and doors out the East terrace - this was the children's den and retreat from the heat in the middle of the day. Also on the East side was our ground floor double bedroom - stunning mountain views out of the window and able to watch the sun rise from our bed. On the left of the hall is the smaller dining room which links into the kitchen. A double door leads out to the front terrace with 2 seats which proved a great vantage point to watch the antics in the pool. The well equipped kitchen had everything needed for our stay and a very large American style fridge freezer was put to good use. Leading off the kitchen through double doors was the West terrace with a large table, seating and built in barbecue where many happy evenings were spent after the kids went to bed! (The handy bottle bank is just the other side of the road) At the back of the house was our WC shower room and a utility room. Up the marble stairs and on the half landing was the single bedroom, ideal for the smallest family member and then upstairs were 4 large doubles - 1 with access to the 1st floor terrace. 2 bathrooms - 1 with bath completed the accommodation. Everything was well maintained and where appropriate in a period style. A short 5 min walk into Camaiore with its many bars and restaurants was ideal and a 20 min drive to Pisa or Lucca catered for all tastes. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
