Make a holiday rental villa or property in Meta, Italy your home away from home

Meta (Meta di Sorrento) is an ancient Amalfi village on the Sorrento Peninsula in Campania, Italy. Situated on a long, sandy beach, Meta is a village where sailing and fishing are always close to the heart. Almost every Meta villa gives wonderful views across the Gulf of Naples. Perfectly positioned within reach of the most famous historical sites along the Amalfi coast, including Pompeii and the island of Capri, a holiday rental in Meta offers visitors a wonderfully relaxed place from which to explore the best of the Naples area.

Things to do in Meta, Italy

Lazing on the beach in Meta seems many miles from the dirt and crowds of Naples. The beach lies at the base of a large cliff, accessible in parts by foot and in others by lifts, running up the cliff face. The dark sand of the beach is hugely atmospheric, and excellent for spending long days in the sun. Swimming in the sea off the beach at Meta is always a delight, and for the more active, there are plenty of opportunities to try windsurfing, water skiing and scuba diving. There is a long tradition of sailing and fishing in Meta, and there is nowhere finer to learn how to sail. There are regular fishing trips heading out into the Tyrrhenian Sea, as well as many excellent sailing schools.

The Sorrento Peninsula is a marvellous place to walk. The woodland carpeted hills are a joy to explore both in summer and winter. There are some fantastic marked trails throughout the region, many of which you can tackle on foot, on mountain bike or from the horse saddle.

Places to visit on holiday in Meta, Italy

There are such a huge range of places to visit in the immediate surroundings of Meta that you would need to take a holiday rental property in the village for months to adequately explore the region. The city of Naples lies just 40km away, and is certainly worth exploring, even if you only see the main tourist attractions. The ruins of Pompeii, 20km away, make for almost essential viewing from Meta accommodation, and the Islands of Capri and Ischia make for excellent day trips, especially if you are visiting for the scuba diving.

Weather in Meta, Italy

The warm Mediterranean climate of Meta results in wonderfully long, hot summers, with daily peak temperatures in the 30’s (˚C) expected daily from June until mid September. Evenings are wonderfully warm, allowing you to walk along the beach as the sun sets in shirt sleeves, or eat outside in the evening. Rain only usually falls in November and December, but even then, temperatures are unlikely to dip below around 12˚C during the day.

Nice flat in an incredible location

5 of 5
Me and 3 friends stayed for 3 nights in this newly renovated flat. Angelo (the owner) kindly offered to pick us up from Naples airport for an extra fee(much smaller than other taxi companies), and is an incredibly nice man. On arrival we were greeted with sandwiches, and he had also stocked breakfast items for the next morning. The flat itself is a minute away from Piano train station, handy for visiting Pompeii, Naples, and going into the centre of Sorrento. The only negative about the flat is weak water pressure from the shower, but the massive rooms, brand new kitchen and the roof terrace more than make up for this. Would highly recommend this place.

A wonderful holiday

5 of 5
We had a lovely week here with our 2 older children. The property is spacious and well equipped. It is ideally located for public transport links for Sorrento, Pompeii and Herculaneum. We visited all on extremely hot days so a dip in the sea afterwards which is about 15 minutes walk away was ideal. The area is quite hilly and cobbled, so be careful if you have walking issues. Rosalba the owner met us off of the coach and gave us a tour of the town. She stays in the top floor of the property and was lovely. She spoke good English and was extremely helpful. The garden is full of orange trees and it was great to have freshly squeezed orange juice with breakfast. An enjoyable week. Would definitely recommend.

Casa Amaranto is a nice, clean spacious summer house

4 of 5
Casa Amaranto is a nice, clean spacious summer house. The owner was very very helpful, she allowed our family to arrive later than expected and supported us with local information and help. We visited in October so it was a little on the cool side, but the owner helped us with heaters and we had a lovely stay. We really liked it and imagine in the summer months it's a great location for relaxing in evenings. Local restaurants (recommended) were very good too. Parking was especially helpful for us.
