Lovely quiet place and stunning view

5 of 5
It was my family's first visit to Puglia and we could not have landed at a better place. The house is new and fresh, garden is beautifully kept and pool lovely. You will immediately feel relaxed here as there is absolutely peace and quiet. Our boys age 8 and twelve enjoying the two friendly small dogs which was joyful. The surrounding beaches are among the cleanest we have ever visited. you find fish swimming around your feet! We are returning in 2017 for two weeks. Looking forward to visiting the place again.

stunning view from large terrace over the bay

5 of 5
Visited middle to end of May (before the main Italian holidays – so relatively quiet everywhere, but already sunny and hot). A spacious, well-equipped and very clean house, just 3 minutes’ drive out of the town and uphill. A quiet and relatively secluded location (despite being so close to the town and beach), with a stunning view from the large terrace over the wide bay below. Antonia and Raphaelo, the local owners, were friendly, generous (fresh fruit from their trees, herbs from the garden and invited us for lunch on our last day) and were sensitive to our space and privacy. They own the attached flat next door, but remained in their house in the town during our stay. They spoke limited English, but their son Antonio, who lives in England, was always available by text or phone for any translations. He was also very helpful beforehand, sharing local knowledge and managing the initial booking. We were lucky enough to be there during a full moon which shone out over the water each night and, the one night we ate out at a beach restaurant, rose up out of the sea, a gorgeous deep orange. We had a wonderful time here. Mattinata is a fairly small, quiet, friendly town. The beach is stony - but small, easy to lie on, stones at the far south, public end. We parked in an olive tree grove/field marked for parking. When we aksed if we should pay before or after they waved us off and said we could leave the car for free. Just one example of many generous and friendly experiences we had in Gargano. Lovely walks from the house up into the surrounding hills, (after a short drive) through gentle woods and flowers up to Mont Sacro (orchids) and (after a longer drive) out from Monte San Angelo (a busy and touristy hill town) in the surrounding hills.
