Bright and characterful apartment with superb views.

The Siren's Refuge is a characterful apartment in part of the ground floor of a grand old Italian farmhouse, set in a lemon groves. It was bright and clean and had all the basics for a relaxing holiday. There are views out over the sea, and across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. It is set somewhat outside the town of Massa Lubrense, down a steep and narrow lane, so if you hire a car, make sure it is a very small one! We just used the local bus, which is regular and frequent and takes 25 minutes to Sorrento from where you can get the train to all the big ticket tourist items such as Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum, or boats to Capri. In fact, Sorrento is an easy one hour walk, mostly down hill, provided you have a good map, and is a great place for relaxing and eating out! The owner Marco was very friendly and helpful. He met us at the bus stop on arrival and provided a selection of foodstuffs so we could make breakfast on our first couple of days. without having to go shopping. We recommend The Siren's Refuge, especially if you want a relaxing place to stay, away from the bustle of Sorrento.

Simply paradise.

Our stay at Il Carrubo was just wonderful. The view is incomparable and we felt very much at home in the beautifully clean villa. The facilities at the villa are good and we had everything we needed for a great stay - the outside kitchen is a real novelty. Importantly, the WI-FI access was good and we were able to stream Netflix and Amazon to our tablets without any delays or interruptions. Raffaella was a fantastic hostess and was keen to share her expert knowledge and tips for touring the area - and was always on hand to answer questions via WhatsApp. The track down to the villa is narrow - we hired a Nissan Juke which was fine - but a bigger car would not be advisable. We shopped at the local CONAD in Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi which had pretty much everything we needed. We had a wonderful, restful time at Il Carrubo and made lots of wonderful memories - the views are unforgettable. We hope to return very soon.
