Beautiful villa in an amazing setting

5 of 5
The villa is beautiful and the setting is amazing, high up in the mountain, with its own fruit farm and a fantastic view of the bay of Naples. The villa is quite a way away from everything and the road to it is a little treacherous. You definitely need to hire a car to be able to stay here. In and around Sorrento is very busy, also beautiful but a little pricey. It was nice to be able to visit sorrento and then retreat back to the villa for some peace away from all the hustle and bustle. The outside area is great for Al Fresco dining around the barbecue and the sunbathing around the pool is hot hot hot The kids loved the pool which was cleaned every day and the family who own the villa are lovely. We got a warm welcome with a bowl full of fresh fruit and tomatoes (very tasty) that they had handpicked from their own gardens, and they were always on hand and happy to help if we needed anything. I would recommend staying here if you want to relax and enjoy some quality time with your family but not if you want to be in the midst of Sorrento and it's nightlife.

A relaxing week at Villa Erca!

5 of 5
The three of us had a very enjoyable week at Villa Erca which was a beautiful traditional villa in a great elevated position looking over the surrounding countryside. We were in the Capri appartment which was spacious over two floors and had great views from the balconies There were two tight spiral staircases but that added to the novelty. As mentioned the villa is high on a hill so you get a cool breeze through even though it was unusually hot during our stay. There was a supplied fan in the main bedroom as well. We also had a small travel fan with us for the smaller child's room. It is well equipped with all the things as described in the advert. Beatrice and Raquel were very responsive when we needed minor things and gave us some suggestions for the area The pool was as good as it looks in the pictures. My daughter would happily have stayed in the water playing with the other children all week instead of venturing on trips out if we had let her! We explored the surrounding villages on foot a fair bit - there is a network of narrow lanes through fruit orchards. You really are out in the sticks which was exactly what we were looking for. However, you can still easily get to a couple of local shops and restuarants on foot in about 10 minutes. Particularly liked the Ristorante de Francesco in Schiazzano, friendly staff , very flexible and helped with our gelato every day challenge :-) ! We regularly walked down to Santa Maria where we had no real trouble parking the car. We also did a longer and worthwhile walk down to Marina della Lobra harbour where there are some nice harbourside places to eat and drink. As other people have mentioned getting up to the villa by car is a bit of a challenge. We mistakenly hired an automatic and I don't think it would have got up to the villa even in manual mode so we didn't even attempt it. Think of the Lakes Hardknott pass but steeper (but shorter!). In the end it didn't really matter for us anyway. We only used the car for longer trips to Vesuvius and Sorrento. Thanks for a great time! Matt, Vicky and Beth
