  • A lovely country house set in a quiet, scenic setting
    5 of 5

The main house we stayed in is a lovely old farmhouse which has been tastefully modernised. A massive kitchen/family room plus a dining room with another sitting area and a living room means there was plenty of space for us to spread out. The bedrooms were spacious and the bathrooms well equipped. The main feature was the outside living space with a breakfast terrace to the east and a main terrace on the south side catching the sun until it sets. A built in BBQ with work surfaces and a sink meant eating outside was a real pleasure. The only down side was that we had a young child with us and the steps and unfenced drops meant he had to be watched all the time. We would definitely book again

  • Utterly stunning place, delightful hosts

The azienda complex is completely beautiful, if you want a relaxing home-based 'chilling' holiday these are the loveliest surroundings you could ask for. Even though there are a number of properties on the complex there are so many gorgeous secluded spots you pretty much feel like you've got the place to yourselves. If you do want to get out and about access is easy to very picturesque and historic nearby towns, and good beaches. We had a fabulous day out to the Cavagrande del Cassibile Nature Reserve, quite a drive and then quite a clamber down into the valley but well worth it, amazing views and beautiful waterfalls and rock pools to swim in. The villa itself was perfect for our needs, nothing grand but quirky and characterful, all spotlessly clean, basically equipped but if you needed anything else you only had to ask, and thoughtfully things were left like washing up liquid, cooking oil, soap, salt and pepper so you don't have to buy every single thing. And complete with gorgeous friendly cats who came visiting several times a day! Diego was a fantastic host, came out to fetch us on our arrival when we got lost driving in circles round Modica, then treated us to a delicious homemade lunch and local wine, and also breakfast the next day. He was always willing to help if needed, without being intrusive in any way. His recommendations for local restaurants were all great. We would also add Signola Ristorante Naturale which we discovered by accident - the best vegetarian/vegan cuisine we've ever had - which in Italy is saying something! Altogether a wonderful and authentic experience of Sicily, we hope to return, maybe for longer next time...
