Make a holiday villa in Manciano your home away from home

Situated on top of a hill, Manciano enjoys glorious panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside.  Inside the town the views are equally impressive with ancient buildings, monuments and piazzas, of which the medieval centre, Castello, and the fortified citadel are well worth exploring.  Nearby are historic villages, a world-famous thermal spa and the ski slopes of a Tuscan volcano.

In an area renowned for its beauty and historic attractions, HomeAway has a selection of holiday rentals to suit the needs of all party sizes, from solo travellers and couples to large families and groups. Just to whet the appetite, there are Manciano holiday villas with large rooms and private gardens, set in beautiful locations in and around the town, revelling in countryside views.  The summers are hot here, so swimming pools and air conditioning are common features.  Many holiday apartments in Manciano also include terraces and balconies. If guests want to unwind during their stay, they could visit Saturnia, where they can slip into thermal waters of a centuries-old spa.

Things to do

-Historic buildings: The Church of St. Leonardo is the town’s principle place of worship and its origins date back to medieval times. One of Manciano’s dominant features is the fortress, possibly medieval in origin and rebuilt in the 15th century. Visitors can also still see the remains of some of the bastions and watchtowers of the town’s ancient surrounding walls.

-Day trips: Manciano is 30 minutes from the seaside villages of Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole.  Nearby is the commune of Saturnia, an old Etruscan town with the remains of a Roman road, medieval walls and a hot spring spa that’s still in use.  People have been bathing in the hot sulphur waters of “Terme di Saturnia" since Roman times.

-Winter sports: Skiing is a popular winter activity in this part of Tuscany. The closest ski resort to the town is Monte Amiate, 34 kilometres away. This is a medium-sized resort offering 12.5 kilometres of ski runs and two cross-country ski trails. Monte Amiate is the only volcano in Tuscany.

-Museum: History lovers staying in Manciano holiday villas head for the Museum of Prehistory and Protohistory of the Valle del Fiora (Hills of the Fiora).  Inside there are Roman and Etruscan relics and exhibits that explore Manciano’s past, beginning in the prehistoric era.

-Events: Manciano celebrates several festivals throughout the year.  The first week of May sees the local cheese tasting fiesta, and at the end of the month, a strawberry fair.  In early September local wine is put under the spotlight at the “Festa delle Cantine", which starts with a horseback torch parade at night.

Perfect Authentic Tuscan villa

5 of 5
The villa was spacious. We are a family of four that travelled from the UK to find a mixture of authentic Italian (Tuscany) countryside to relax in. The pool was amazing & so was our weather ! From this perfectly tranquill base we managed to visit the beautiful village of Marsiliana, the port of Monte Argentario, the many beautiful beaches of Tuscany to watch the sun down, the lovely town of Orbetello, the City of Rome, the beautiful town built into the italian hillside of Pitigalino, the lakes of Bolsena, Siena & Pisa. If your happy to drive these excurtions are achievable in a day. We thoroughly enjoy the peace & tranquliity of the pool at the villa on days where we did not wish to travel. Francesca & family were lovely & helpful in anything we needed & even gave us chairs & umbrellas for the beaches. The island of Giglio is a must as a day trip! beautiful. This has been an awesome much needed holiday for us all & Francesca & this villa comes highly recomended. Thank you ! We will hopefully be back.
