It is also without a doubt one of the best-positioned villages in the region, being close to beaches, shops, cafes, restaurants, castles and all of the attractions of the lake itself. Lake Garda is famous for being an outdoors-lovers paradise, and Malcesine is the start point for some of the finest walks and hikes in the region. The more energetic should consider taking the cable car, which runs from the centre of the village up 6000ft to magnificent Monte Baldo. The drop-off point is near the peak of this rugged mountain range, meaning there are some excellent hiking and climbing opportunities waiting to be taken advantage of, as well as plenty of scenic photography opportunities.

Even if you do not want to go hiking up it you can still enjoy Monte Baldo, as it can be seen from all around Malcesine. Whether you are enjoying a spot of breakfast in your Malcesine villa, rejuvenating with a strong espresso in one of the village’s cafes, or eating outside a local restaurant on a balmy summers evening, the mountain looms large and provides a unique backdrop.

One of the main sites in Malcesine is the magnificent renaissance castle, which towers over the lake and has a fascinating history that dates back hundreds of years. The whole village has retained its medieval feel, with traditional businesses such as bakeries and pasta shops still doing a healthy trade, and combining well with more modern attractions such as beachside snack bars and popular pizzerias.

Luigi's communication throughout the booking and arrival process was excellent. He has very good English and could not have been more helpful. The apartment is very spacious and fully air-conditioned which is most welcome especially at night. A modestly equipped kitchen would make meal preparation a bit of a challenge, but who comes to Italy and then cooks for themselves? Unfortunately for us I broke my ankle on just our second day which cut short our holiday. Luigi really came to our rescue organising taxis, showing where we could hire a wheelchair and even helping to get me in and out of the apartment. He just could not have been more helpful. We can thoroughly recommend this property and when my ankle has mended we'll be back to complete some unfinished business! You'll not be disappointed in Malcesine with this place as your base.

                                    Splendid Villa

                                    5 of 5
We had the most wonderful stay at this Splendid Villa. We stayed for 8 nights as a family of 8. We arrived on the Wednesday and got married in the castle on the Saturday. The Villa more than complemented our wedding, we could not of asked for a more stately residence!! From the initial booking to the prompt return of the damage deposit on our arrival home everything was seamless. Laura and the wonderful Anny who is always available to attend to all your needs on arrival and throughout your stay, make this Villa the perfect choice for any future brides or family vacation. The rooms are perfect, lots of space and impeccably clean. I want to live there !! Will definitely return and recommend to everyone I know xx Thankyou x Lorraine & Mike Latham

                                    Great place ideal for castle

                                    5 of 5
This is a great little place ideally located for the castle and all areas of Malcesine. Laura was very helpful during the booking process even arranging transfers for us and making sure everything we required in the house for a toddler was there e.g travel cot extra blankets etc. We were greeted by Barbara on arrival who escorted us to the house and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. We were there for my brothers wedding and it was in a perfect location with little distance to walk and we were able to go back to rest the children before the evening. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious and the house was very well equipped with a washing machine, iron and beach towels for when we visited the lake for a paddle! The outside courtyard was lovely for relaxing in an afternoon and very safe for the children as there is a gate to stop them from wandering into the street so ideal for them to play out with toys or do colouring etc. Ideally placed for shops restaurants etc, a baker, pasta takeaway, ice cream parlour, pizzeria and supermarket were all a 30 second walk away so everything you need on your doorstep! My only concern was the bannisters on the staircase As my 1 year old could fit through the balustrades but obviously we kept him under strict supervision so he was fine and also it was quite noisy at night as you could hear people in the cafes below but this didn't bother us as we were so tired at night we just crashed out so maybe if you want peace and quiet you would be advised against stopping in the town anyway. In All though a great stay and a great place to stop.
