It is also without a doubt one of the best-positioned villages in the region, being close to beaches, shops, cafes, restaurants, castles and all of the attractions of the lake itself. Things to do in Malcesine, Italy

Lake Garda is famous for being an outdoors-lovers paradise, and Malcesine is the start point for some of the finest walks and hikes in the region. The more energetic should consider taking the cable car, which runs from the centre of the village up 6000ft to magnificent Monte Baldo. The drop-off point is near the peak of this rugged mountain range, meaning there are some excellent hiking and climbing opportunities waiting to be taken advantage of, as well as plenty of scenic photography opportunities.

Even if you do not want to go hiking up it you can still enjoy Monte Baldo, as it can be seen from all around Malcesine. Whether you are enjoying a spot of breakfast in your Malcesine villa, rejuvenating with a strong espresso in one of the village’s cafes, or eating outside a local restaurant on a balmy summers evening, the mountain looms large and provides a unique backdrop.

One of the main sites in Malcesine is the magnificent renaissance castle, which towers over the lake and has a fascinating history that dates back hundreds of years. The whole village has retained its medieval feel, with traditional businesses such as bakeries and pasta shops still doing a healthy trade, and combining well with more modern attractions such as beachside snack bars and popular pizzerias.

Splendid!

5 of 5
Very nice, easy, precise and effective communication with both Laura (owner) and Annie (care taker). A high degree of flexibility. Damage deposit very quickly returned. Very nice apartement with everything you need. Located in a silent area, but at the same time very close to the heart of Malcesine and the beach. 5 mins to walk to the cableway to Monte Baldo, 5 mins to the beach and 8 mins to Malcesine town. We would love to come back!

A great property in a great location

5 of 5
We booked this property as we were attending a wedding in the castle which is quite literally next door! We couldn't have wanted for anything while we stayed in the house as everything, including the unexpected addition of beach towels for swimming from small beach just behind the house. Every morning we were able to walk to local bakeries to buy freshly baked pastries and bread for breakfast that we ate on the balcony overlooking the lake. The house has parking which is a 5 minute walk away and down a very narrow road - we had a Fiat 500X and it was real squeeze getting the car in! Barbara was really helpful in getting us settled in when we arrived.
