A very special place

5 of 5
We stayed at La Casaccia in August with our 3 children. The house itself is comfortable, clean, beautifully presented in keeping with its age and style, well equipped and there is lots of space. The views from the seating areas and hammocks outside are just breath taking and seem to change continually. We really enjoyed just sitting and enjoying the tranquillity and landscape. There was lots of wildlife to spot – it was fascinating to watch the boars come through at dusk. We also made good use of the barbecue. The pool area was equally beautiful, and the children spent hours hopping in and out – we were often the only ones using it. Florence was easy to get to, just a short car ride and then the train. Other places of interest were about 1.5 hours away. I would say that La Casaccia is undoubtedly off the main tourist track – the road from the nearest village is a good 10 minutes with many hairpin bends and often single track. This of course is part of its charm, that it is so tucked away, rustic and peaceful. We had a very special week here, and thank you Maria Luisa for all your warmth and hospitality (and your lovely wine!).

A compact downstairs apartment with a delightful owner upstairs. Nicely furnished. Loved the pool.

A lovely place in the foothills of the Apennines so welcome respite from the manic crowds of Florence, Siena, etc. Wild boar abound and we just managed to avoid running a family of them over coming back from a day out at nighttime. The ground floor apartment is compact but perfectly adequate for a couple. Nice firm bed which is always important. Limited cooking facilities but we ate out anyway. Nice secluded swimming pool which was really clean, with deck chairs, large parasols and a shower. Our hostess spoke English and was very friendly but not intrusive.
