Make a holiday rental home or countryside house in Lanuvio, Italy your home away from home

Lanuvio is located to the south-east of Rome, 35km from the city centre. In ancient times the settlement was one of the most important in the Rome Province, but its prominence has waned over the centuries, and after being heavily bombed during World War II it has had to be rebuilt virtually from scratch. The result is impressive, and the holiday villas and countryside houses of Lanuvio are good choices of base for exploring this rural region and the great city itself.

Things to do in Lanuvio, Italy

Lanuvio is one of the towns of the Castelli Romani (Castles of Rome), a group of communes to the south-east of Rome. The area is peaceful and rural, making it great for days of outdoor adventure, with lakes, hills and typical unspoilt green terrain waiting to be explored.

Lanuvio is also one of the most practical destinations for a countryside base within short reach of the city of Rome, as it is of a decent size and has a full range of modern tourist facilities and amenities. This includes a good selection of shops, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and bars – meaning whether you decide to eat out or cook all of your meals in your Lanuvio holiday rental villa, you will be well catered for.

Despite Lanuvio’s rural location, the comune is just 35km from the very centre of Rome. Transport links to and from the Eternal City are excellent, and in a little over half an hour after boarding a train it is possible to be at the city’s famous Central Station, pouring over a guide book and planning your day of sightseeing over a strong Italian coffee.

Lovely villa in beautiful rural surroundings in the hills close to Rome

4 of 5
We have just come back from two weeks at this villa. We were blessed by lovely weather so got plenty of opportunity to use the pool and surrounding area. You need a car to be able to get around as in a rural location. Villa was well equipped and maintained and in beautiful grounds in the hills close to Rome. I can still smell the jasmine and honeysuckle and see the wild flowers along the roadside. There was a friendly cafe less than 10 mins drive away for a coffee and croissant and close to a small supermarket. Larger shops were accessible in less than 30 mins drive. There were two local train stations giving easy access to Rome. We used to drive to Campeleone giving us access to Rome in approx 25 mins at cost of approx €5 return. Metro travel was cheap and you could buy a days unlimitted access using metro and buses for€7 if you didn't want to walk far in Rome. Villa provided quiet and relaxation after busy sight seeing trips in Rome and the surrounding area. We had a great day at historical Ostia Antica and Lago Albano with its volcanic ash waterside and clear lake water. We preferred to use the villa pool but beaches at Anzio and Nettuna were less than an hours drive away and provided restaurant opportunities and a walk along the beach. The owner, Cinzia couldn't have been nicer or more helpful ensuring we had everything we needed and giving helpful tips of how to get to places. She even arranged a mid holiday clean at no extra cost. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, giving us some quality family time together.

We loved the apartment. It was very clean and fresh and the outside area was great.

The property is in a great location for visting Rome either by car or as we did bus and train, and has great access to the main motorways to see areas outside Rome. Not far from the airport either. It was lovely to return to the tranquility of this apartment after hectic sightseeing in Rome. Anca and Costel were a terrific help especially when we had to sort out one or two things out .Costel does offer a taxi service very useful for early am tours in the city and getting friends to and from the airport. Communication was excellent with Tobias who always responded promptly to our questions . Thankyou to Anca Costel and Liam.
