Make holiday rental accommodation or an apartment in Ischia, Italy your home away from home

The Island of Ischia lies in the mouth of the Bay of Naples. It is a relatively small island (47km²) in the Campania region of Italy, yet thousands of people flock to the magnificent beaches, thermal springs and self catering Ischia villas every year.

Things to do on the Island of Ischia, Italy

The main attractions available from accommodation in Ischia are the beaches, the sea and the spa centres, which could easily take up your entire Ischia holiday! There are many fine beaches of all styles, from wide beaches inundated with tourist facilities to the secluded, cut-off cove beaches only accessible by boat. The most famous beach is the Spiaggia dei Maronti, which was a favourite place for pirates to bury treasure – or so the story goes!

The therapeutic properties of Ischia’s thermal waters have encouraged visitors to the island for many years. Ranging from 20-80˚C, there are many thermal centres, and many of the hotels in Ischia fill their pools with spring water, which are accessible to members of the public staying in an Ischia apartment. You can also pamper yourself with mud-baths, hydro-massage and beauty treatments.

There are some magnificent hiking trails across the island which takes in some of the most interesting geological features of Ischia, including mini-volcanoes. Scuba diving is very popular activity too, with a number of diving schools and centres on the island. The popularity of the cave dives around the island are so popular during the summer that it is strongly advised that you pre-book dives during the peak season.

Places to holiday on the Island of Ischia, Italy

Ischia’s neighbouring island, Capri is a slightly more exclusive resort, and a little more famous than Ischia, but somehow lacks the same welcoming atmosphere which has made Ischia the more popular of the two islands for those wanting to take self catering holiday rental accommodation. Ischia is close enough to easily get a boat across to Capri, so you can visit the two huge attractions found there, the Blue Grotto caves and the Villa Jovis.

Weather in the Island of Ischia, Italy

Summer temperatures are stunningly hot, with daily temperatures often reaching around 36˚C, which is why Ischia villas with pools are in such high demand. During winter, average temperatures are still above 10˚C on the vast majority of occasions.

Flights to the Island of Ischia, Italy

An Ischia apartment is very easy to reach from Naples by hydrofoil or ferry, and there are frequent (and cheap) trips to and from the island to be found. easyJet provide cheap flights to Naples’ Capodichino Airport (NAP) daily from across the UK, meaning that you can reach holiday accommodation in Ischia with relative ease.

an ideal family home by the sea

5 of 5
The house is in the best location possible in Ischia Ponte, by the sea, the shops and cafes, the scenic view on the Castle and near a park. The house has a lot of character and is very spacious and comfortable. Maria, the owner, was here to welcome us. We had a super 2 weeks there and would love to go back there.

Absolutely spectacular.

My family travels from Canada to Italy for a few weeks every summer and each year we always try new places to visit. Italy is such a diverse country so it's never difficult to find exciting new experiences. Well I can honestly say that Sant"Angelo was one of the most magical places I have ever visited in Italy. The pedestrian only streets really added to the tranquility of the village when compared to other towns on the island. Upon arrival at the port, our born and raised in Ischia taxi driver informed us that Sant"Angelo was the best place to stay on the island. The apartment was perfect for my wife and our two young children. Fully outfitted with every amenity. Located just steps away from the best mini mercato in town. A pleasant 4 minute downhill stroll and you find yourself either at the beach clubs, the water taxi stand and the towns central piazza. The views from both patios were postcard material at all hours of the day and the happenings in the little port are always entertaining. A wide selection of wonderful restaurants are all within a 5 minute walk of the apartment. Christoph the owner is incredibly attentive and stayed in contact with us both before and upon our arrival to ensure that all was well (plus he speaks and writes perfect English). My texts to him about the location of garbage disposal and the Wifi password were answered almost immediately. This apartment and the town of Sant'Angelo are the epitome of the La Dolce Vita. The town is full of Italian tourists so English is rarely spoken but present if needed. Do yourself a favor and skip the overrated islands of Capri and Ponza and instead head to the real heartbeat of Italian island life; Sant'Angelo before it is discovered by other international tourists. And lastly to the owner Christoph. Please let me know if you ever decide to sell the apartment as I'd happily purchase it from you as my experience was simply that memorable. Molto grazie mille.
