Make a holiday villa in Florence Area your home away from home

Florence is the pride of Italy’s Tuscany region and entices tourists with its treasure trove of cultural attractions and culinary delights. This city is undoubtedly one of the most significant on the Italian art scene, being the place where Michelangelo weaved his magic and where he was laid to rest. Stunning landmarks pop out from behind every corner, inviting tourists to dream of another time, while seasoned tenors and sopranos fill opera halls with enchanting melodies. Florence Area villas put such wonders within holidaymakers’ reach. Most people on touring this part of Italy will stay in a terraced apartment in the centre of the city, giving them a unique vantage point from which to savour Florence’s attractions. Visitors can also choose to spend their nights in Tuscan villas constructed in traditional fashion or in medieval castles with amazing views. A number of these Florence Area holiday rentals come with private pools among other features.

Things to do

-Museums: The Statue of David, one of artist extraordinaire Michelangelo’s most audacious pieces, stands in the Accademia Gallery. A massive marble impression of the biblical David, it's a piece everyone with any respect for art will give an arm and a leg to see. Luckily, visitors don’t have to go to such lengths to see this historic sculpture; but they do need to book their visit well in advance so as not to be crowded out. Also in this gallery are other interesting pieces such as the Rape of the Sabines and Slaves. Florence is also home to one of the world’s most renowned fine art galleries, the Galleria degli Uffizi. It will overwhelm visitors with its impressive collection of Renaissance artworks. Visitors are again advised to buy tickets well in advance as queues are usually very long.

-Historic architecture: As they perambulate the city’s streets, residents of Florence Area holiday rentals will come across the famous Giotto Tower in all its multiple-windowed glory. To get to the top of this structure, tourists will have to climb more than 400 steps; it may not be the ideal activity for a summer afternoon! But for those who do scale the steps, unbelievable panoramas of Florence and the hills beyond await. Next to the tower is a beautiful cathedral, Duomo di Firenze, one of the city’s most prominent landmarks. The 11th-century Basilica di San Miniato al Monte, however, is reputed to have an even more dazzling interior than the duomo.

-Activities: Other than sampling Tuscan specialities, holidaymakers can learn how to do it the way the Italians do by undertaking cooking classes. They can come away from Florence with age-old cooking secrets that will spice up their self-catering holiday rentals, as well as their kitchens at home. Those looking to catch the artist bug can do so with the help of classes in this romantic city, starting with photography training to help them capture Florence’s bountiful sites.

-Shopping: Being in the home of art, there are several places holidaymakers can find artistic souvenirs to carry back home. At Le Pietre Nell’Arte, visitors will be able to buy stone masterpieces and even watch as the artists patiently craft them. Of course, visitors can buy items of apparel and accessories by Gucci and other popular Italian brands here, too, as well as discover lesser-known brands if they so wish.

Weather in Florence Area

With a melange of Mediterranean and humid subtropical weather patterns, Florence tends to experience extreme heat in summer while winters can see temperatures drop slightly below freezing. During the typical summer months Florence is hot and clammy, so those booking Florence Area holiday homes may want to do so a bit earlier. Visiting between April and May is not a bad idea as temperatures will be in the twenties but won’t be uncomfortably hot.

Travel to Florence Area

Visitors travelling from London, Brussels, Munich and other major European towns can take a direct flight to Amerigo Vespucci International Airport, one of Tuscany’s two main international gateways. The other is Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa. Most low-cost airlines have flights only to the latter airport thus visitors may want to opt to enter through there. The Pisa airport also has good bus and train links to the city.

Great apartment in beautiful location near San Gimignano

My wife and me (50+) were visiting Tuscany fourth time in recent 10 years. This year we spent a week in this great apartment near San Gimignano and a week on the cost (Calabrone). This apartment was definitively the best we have had during all stays - great compromise between Tuscany tradition and the convenient, new equipment. Very well equipped kitchen, bathroom (including washing machine), no surprises versus apartment description at all. Superb pool and surrounding area - even if on the pictures pool looks a bit bigger, it very nice - you can sit on the sun-chairs directly next to pool or lay on the well managed grass area. The view from the pool is marvelous - you can delight Tuscany hills and Volterra. You also have a small but nice private garden with a lot a plants. Ideal place to have an evening wine! If I would have to find any cons (still, with overall apartment evaluation 5/5) I could say that the last 2 km of the road is quite dusty (gravel road), but that's the price you pay if want to be a bit aside - usually such apartments have last 1-2km of the gravel road. Overall we really loved the apartment and can definitively recommend it. Thanks to Daniele and Fabio for all support during the stay.

                                      Amazing property! Great location!

Spent 4 nights in the "Francesca" apartment. It was clean, modern and beautifully furnished and had everything we could possibly need. In an ideal location in Florence - nicely tucked away in quiet back-streets but very close to many of the key sights. This apartment was the best we have stayed in throughout our Italian travels and I would highly recommend it. Simone was a pleasure to deal with and made us feel very welcome.
