Holidaymakers searching for holiday rentals in Fertilia also enquired about villas in Campo di Alghero, apartments in Alghero Town and bungalows in Santa Maria la Palma

Make a holiday apartment in Fertilia your home away from home

Fertilia is a small picturesque seaside village located on the west coast of the Italian island of Sardinia, which is girt by the pristine waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The ideal place for relaxation, Fertilia holiday apartments caters perfectly to travellers who are interested in getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life; whether it be for a honeymoon, a family holiday or an outdoor adventure. A Fertilia holiday apartment can also serve as the perfect base for getting out there and exploring all that Sardinia has to offer.

Things to do

Although Fertilia may be a small settlement by European standards, its size has absolutely no effect on the attractions and activities on offer. Regardless of whether you’re interested in living a life of luxury in your prestigious Fertilia holiday villa, or getting back to nature and doing some hiking or biking, Fertilia has a little something to suit everyone.

-The beach at Fertilia is what one would expect of a beach lapped by the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean, right down to the fine white sand and sweeping palms. Its calm waters also make it the perfect place for children to paddle and play, and the fact that it’s basically on the doorstep of most holiday accommodation in Fertilia makes family visits to the coast 100 per cent stress free!

-The wineries situated around Fertilia are a great option if you’re interested in taking a day trip around the region, with establishments such as Sella & Mosca wine estate located in extremely close proximity. Once at the winery of your choice you can indulge in tasting some of the great vintages grown and produced in the area, before choosing your favourite bottles to take back with you.

-The Torre del Portal Alghero situated in Alghero, is an interesting historical site within walking or cycling distance of Fertilia(6.5 kms away). Originally, the tower was constructed by the village’s Jewish community and was used to delineate between the settlement and the surrounding countryside, although it is contemporarily overshadowed by the World War 1 memorial, which sits directly in front of it.

-Neptune’s Cave, located roughly 18 kilometres from Fertilia, is one of the largest and most popular caves in the region. To comprehend the size of this amazing grotto, you need only hear that approximately 200 people can fit into the cave at one time. If this cavern piques your interest, and you’re feeling adventurous, you may also like to explore some of the underwater caves in the region by way of a guided diving tour.

-Bird watching is a great pastime, which can be undertaken right from the balcony of Fertilia holiday homes, if you’re not feeling energetic. The best area around Fertilia for bird watching however, is the Capo Caccia National Park located only about 17 kilometres from your holiday accommodation. Here there is a chance that you will spot interesting species such as the Alpine Swift and the Peregrine Hawk, in addition to various oceanic and migratory birds.

Weather in Fertilia

Fertilia generally experiences warm, mostly dry, summers and cool wet winters, which means that visiting the island during the summer months is preferable for most travellers. If you’re interested in avoiding the tourist hoards and getting a great deal on your Fertilia holiday home however, you may like to chance the weather and visit the island in either spring or autumn.

Getting to Fertilia

Fertilia is extremely easy to reach, as the Alghero Airport is located a mere 5.5 kilometres from the village. You may consequently choose to cover the distance between the airport and your Fertilia holiday apartment by taxi, shuttle bus, public bus, rental car or even by foot if you’re feeling sporty. A rental car may be advantageous however, if you’re planning on doing a lot of sightseeing whilst you’re on the island.

A great family villa in a rural setting

5 of 5
I have just returned from staying at this property with my husband and family, totalling 6 adults & 1 toddler and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The property was clean and well equipped and Diane, the agent who met us there was brilliant with all relevant information on the villa and also on the surrounding area and the 'to-do's'. She got our basic provisions for us, as we had a later arrival, plus a tiramisu cake I had asked if she could get for birthday celebrations we had, which was very welcoming after our journey from Olbia. All liaision prior to travel was first class and would certainly recommend to anyone. The location was great for Alghero & getting to the main roads for sightseeing. We can recommend, for Sunday lunch time, Sa Mandra-Azienda Agrituristica which was a wonderful local dining experience of several courses in a beautiful setting - check out trip advisor. Also the walk to the Grotte Di Nettuno down nearly 700 steps (and back again) was great, if you like walking, and the views outstanding. You can get a boat from Alghero if you prefer. Overall a most memorable holiday.

Large private terrace with uninterrupted sea views

5 of 5
Alghero is a small and lively seaside town, great fun to be in, even in August. It is enjoyable to walk around the old town, and go on boat trips, including to the ' Neptune cave' nearby. Having a gelato looking at the sea is a requirement. The apartment is in an excellent location, and is comfortably furnished, including enough kitchen equipment to cook if you want to. There is a great daily market about 5 minutes from the apartment. The terrace is superb, completely private and sunny. Maria was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Would definitely go back.

A beautiful setting with outstanding views

4 of 5
This was a wonderful experience. The villa is a little 'tired' having been built in the 1970s, and is showing signs of wear (and thus the 4 stars - if one could grade 4.9, this property would get it), but it is in an idyllic location, half way up the hill looking out west over the sea, with the tower of Old Alghero visible to the north. The swimming pool is a delight, and dinner on the terrace every evening was a wonderful way for the group together and talk through their experiences of the day. The coastline below the property is rock-pool rather than sand - a good place to snorkel. Silvia, the housekeeper, is charmingly helpful - her advice was thoughtful and useful, and she took great care to assist with local issues. We arrived very late (at midnight) to a clean villa with everything ready for us, and Silvia and Daniele very kindly showed us round, despite the late hour. We could not have been better looked after. This is a wonderful piece of Sardegna, away from the crowds and dust. Old Alghero is endlessly charming, with history and shops crammed into narrow Catalan alleyways, and plenty of gelaterie. Coming back to the villa in the evenings was always welcome, though we took several days just to enjoy the peace and quiet of the place itself, while the children played in the pool.
