Lovely apartment with a wonderful host - highly recommended!

5 of 5
Our stay in Marisa and Tullio's apartment was a highlight of our trip to Italy. Marisa was an incredibly kind, thoughtful and delightful host. She did everything she could do, and far more than we expected, to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable from a very warm welcome at the beginning to being very helpful when we were leaving. The apartment itself is lovely, living up to everything promised on the website. It's really comfortable, very quiet and with beautiful views over the garden. It's also full of character, having been very sensitively converted in a historic building. It's also perfectly located for seeing all the main sites in Ferrara (for example the impressive castello estense), with a short walk to the centre or an even shorter bike ride if you prefer. We also loved using the bikes she provided to cycle around the very impressive city walls. The apartment was very well equipped, particularly the kitchen. Marisa and Tullio live in the building (their family home) so Marisa was on hand if we did have any queries. This was our third trip to Italy and we have stayed in several very nice apartments, but this was by far the best. Ferrara may not have as many sites as some other Italian cities, but it is full of charm and it was easy to visit other cities like Padua for day trips. We hope to return to stay in the apartment again in a few years when the Palazzo Schifanoia reopens after restoration; the fact that it was closed during our visit was our only disappointment during our stay. Lovely apartment in central Ferrara

5 of 5
Luigi's apartment is right in the centre of Ferrara so only steps from all the sites, restaurants and bars. It is very comfortable, well equiped and spotlessly clean. Luigi met us on arrival and showed us everything and also gave us loads of information on the city and surrounding area. There is a garage space available, there is an charge for this but we thought it was good value. Be warned, the entry/exit is very steep and space is tight. Ferrara itself is a joy with lots to see and do, a lively town centre and lots of pleasant places to eat and drink. It is easy to use the train to get around, we went to Bologna which was lovely. We also visited the Po Delta by car, a fascinating landscape and excellent seafood lunch at Commacchio. Great holiday, we would definitely recommend Luigi's apartment and would stay again ourselves if it was available.
