Make a holiday apartment in the South Rome Outskirts your home away from home

Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in the world; a buzzing and modern metropolis that has kept its ancient past in clear view.  At almost every turn there are centuries-old temples and churches, old public buildings and monuments.  Among the Italian capital’s most famous sights are the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and St. Peter’s Basilica. The astonishing architecture isn’t Rome’s only claim to fame, however; there’s also world-class shopping, an internationally famous dining scene and eclectic nightlife.

Although more affordable than staying in boutique hotels, booking one of HomeAway's central Rome apartments is often an expensive option; this is the Eternal City, after all! For this reason, HomeAway also has holiday apartments in the South Rome Outskirts that enjoy easy connections to the centre and the city’s main attractions, but come in at a more affordable price. They are ideal for those who want to be close to the action but also need a quiet refuge near the countryside.  Holiday villas in the South Rome Outskirts are also possible, and tend to feature large, attractive rooms, as well as features like coffee makers, washing machines and refrigerators.

Things to do

-Outdoors: Visitors who stay in holiday apartments in the South Rome Outskirts have easy access to the scenic splendour of lakes, hills and vineyards around the city.  One of the most popular escapes from Rome’s busy streets is the historic hill town of Frascati with its fresh air, views, architecture and restaurants. The beach at Ostia is also close by.

-Shopping: Shopping is an art form in Rome and one of its most famous and fashionable addresses is Via Condotti at the base of the Spanish Steps.  Renowned fashion houses such as Gucci and Giorgio Armani have stores here.  Numerous boutiques can be found by Piazza di Spagna and the colourful open-air markets are always popular.

-Architecture: Rome boasts one world-famous structure after another, with St. Peter’s Square and St. Peter’s Basilica, and their store of artistic masterpieces, being among the most popular.  A wander down many of the streets, cobblestone lanes and alleyways will take you to some historic gem or other.

-Food and drink: In the summer, al fresco dining in a restaurant lining a historic piazza is a must. The most expensive restaurants are in the centre, but travel further out to the suburbs and guests will find reasonably priced, authentic meals that are just as good as anything served by the city’s most famous kitchens.

-Nightlife: Rome rarely goes to sleep early and there are late night jazz clubs, nightclubs and bars all over the city.  In the warm months many people sit out by the Trevi Fountain and the old squares well into the early morning.

Weather in the South Rome Outskirts

Rome’s Mediterranean climate has hot, sometimes stifling summers with temperatures in the mid-30s during July and August.  For most of the year the weather is warm.  During January and February the temperature rarely drops below 0°C.  October and November are the wettest months.

Travel to the South Rome Outskirts

Rome is served by two major airports, the main international airport Leonardo da Vinci (also known as Fiumicino) and Ciampino airport.  A holiday villa in the South Rome Outskirts is linked to the rest of the city by good bus and metro routes.  Some people opt to rent a car for the duration of their stay, but the roads are often congested and parking is expensive.

                        Modern Apartment

                        5 of 5
This apartment is excellent, very modern and clean and has all the mod cons that you need. It is an excellent location with a metro station on your doorstep which takes you to most of the attractions within 15mins. Enzo was an excellent host who showed us in detail of how everything worked at the apartment and was local if we needed him. If I come to rome again I will definitely like to stay here again. Excellent and really lovely apartment in Rome

                        5 of 5
I have staied in this apartment for three months. The owner is a very nice and honest person. The location of the flat is excellent as you need only 5 minutes walk to the metro station " EUR Fermi" which can take you to wherever you want to go in Rome. The bus station next to the building for bus no 700 which goes to the shopping mall Euroma2 within 10 minutes. The apartment is fully furnished with stylish furniture and the kitchent is fully equipped. The bathroom is large and it has a washing machine on it. I really enjoyed my stay on this apartment.
