The lowlands around your Chiusi holiday home are a treasure-trove of ancient Etruscan tombs. Many are closed to the public, but guided tours are possible to some of the less archaeologically important ones and make a fascinating day trip.

Visit the Town

Although many of Chiusi's rich archaeological finds have been removed to other museums, the local Museum of Etruscan History has some excellent exhibits in a neoclassical building on Via Porsenna. Painted urns and funery urns have beautiful decorations and symbols. The 12th century Duomo Cathedral is also very impressive and has its own museum with remains of the 3rd century city walls in the gardens. A tour of Chiusi's underground tunnel system is also a fascinating step back in time.

Chiusi is known for its excellent restaurants. Sampling the local cuisine and excellent wines are the perfect way to end a hard day exploring the local history. Tasty crostini and sliced salami can be enjoyed as you peruse the main menu which may typically offer wild boar lasagna, spicy lamb abbachio or the local delicacy - suckling pig.

This really is the most beautiful property you could imagine. With fabulous views all around, a lovely pool and the most delightful owners. The apartment has everything you could want and the area is stunning with so many wonderful places to visit. To sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down behind the hills is truly paradise! Thank you Carla and Franco.

Fantastic Location for Family Reunion

5 of 5
We are a family of 5 with three small boys (8,6,3) who have just spent an amazing 10 days at Favola Umbria. We travelled together with 6 other adults and 7 other children all aged under 10. Our hosts Laila, Mario and Sara made sure we had everything we needed, and they were always available in person to answer questions we had about the local area etc. They really went out of their way to ensure we had some special memories of our Umbrian adventure. The villa is set in a beautiful area with amazing facilities and full privacy. The grounds are very secure and well kept and all our children had a fantastic time enjoying the pool, playground and other facilities. There are also some great trails right next to the villas for any keen walkers/runners. I'd recommend the villa to any family wanting to prioritise quality time together and wishing to have a central Umbrian location for day trips.
