Things to do

-Ancient architecture: There is no shortage of fascinating monuments to explore in this Tuscan town. Among the most visited is the Mangia Tower or Torre del Mangia which rises close to 300 feet. This incredible structure is almost 700 years old, yet still retains its sturdiness and charm. It also offers sublime views to those who brave the tedious climb. The Biblioteca Piccolomini is one of several captivating religious monuments that Siena hosts, and is well worth a visit if only to view the incredible frescoes that decorate its walls.

-Museums: To further colour an encounter with Italian art, a visit to the Museo del Opera Metropolitana is recommended. Situated in the Piazza del Duomo, it contains a collection of beautiful ancient sculptures. Beside it is a spiral staircase that leads visitors up to a great viewpoint, from which they’ll have a bird’s eye view of the town and the countryside. In the Museuo Civio in the Piazza del Campo, Siena’s symbolic heart, holidaymakers can learn more about Siena’s rich history while viewing yet more riveting frescoes done by Simone Martini and other great artists.

-Food and drink: Those staying in Chiusdino self-catering holiday rentals can seize the opportunity to discover a whole new cooking culture. At restaurants such as Enoteca i Terzi they can partake of succulent beef specialities accompanied by different versions of pasta. At the Osteria le Logge diners are treated to mushroom and pumpkin-based delicacies, and will have an entire armoire of wines to choose from.

-Wine tours: For a mix of wine and the beautiful Tuscan countryside, visitors can treat themselves to a tour of any one of the vineyards here. There they will find knowledgeable locals eager to take them through their vineyards, and share with them age old traditions regarding wine-making. After a tour of the cellars they will tuck into delicious gourmet meals helped down by delicious wine fresh from the vats.

-Shopping: Fashion lovers will find shops containing carefully selected brands that they’ll want to check out. From these outlets they’ll find high quality shoes and items of apparel they’ll want to take home. At the Bianco e Nero di Staccioli Sonia, holidaymakers can also shop for items of art to take home as souvenirs.

Recent Reviews

Centrally located, well equipped and modern apartment.

5 of 5
We were very pleased with our stay here. The owner and her keyholder were both very helpful , flexible and easy to communicate with. The apartment was clean and comfortable and the complementary fruit basket and a few nespresso capsules and tea bags to get you started were a great touch! The location couldn't really be better if you want to be in the centre of Siena - everything you might want to see in the city is less than a 15 minute walk away. There are 5 restaurants of varying styles and price points within 60 seconds walk, so you don't have to go far to get some supper. You can also park easily at the nearby multistory parcheggio (just outside the controlled traffic zone) from where you can be on the main road to visit other places very easily. The only downside of being so central is that it is not a quiet location - but you can't have a everything on your doorstep and complete silence! So if you are a light sleeper, take earplugs and you will be fine. Highly recommended.

Perfect holiday home, beautifully furnished inside a medieval walled village with amazing views of the countryside. It was a perfect base for visiting nearby Sienna & Florence.
