  • What a wonderful place!

Villa Montecristo: what a wonderful place! Our expectations before coming were very high, but in fact the reality was better than dreams. After months of correspondence with the very kind and professional owner (where we made so many questions - maybe too many - but she always answered promptly and kindly) we finally arrived at Villa Montecristo. First we saw the blossoming garden facing the sea with its sunny spots, shady areas and wonderful terrace under the pergola where the dining area is, at that was marvelous. The house inside left us without words: I am an architect and I use to see beautiful houses, but I've never seen something like that before: so charming, so historical, so good taste forniture, in one word: so beautiful! The kitchen preserves its antique charme but with all modern appliances needed, every room has its own soul and the sitting room is something you don't have the chance to see often in life and worth the journey. We were over the moon and we thought we couldn't be happier until.... we saw the swimming pool! I think it is unique in the world as it was a granite quarry the owners converted in a swimming pool. It has infinity edge so while you swim in the emerald waters you have the feeling you're swimming in the sea but what is incredible is that the original granite stone is untouched! I asked the owners and they explained me it took five years for the project and many months to realize because nobody made a thing like that before, but the result surely worth the big effort! What else? I think we can't asked for more and we'll be surely back for another wonderful holiday!

  • Outdoor living and quietness

We have been going to Elba for many years and since four years we have found the perfect spot in Andrea's house in Maciarello. We are a family of four (2 kids of 6 and 4) plus the grandparents and we normally rent the house and Torara. It's a 10 minutes walk down to the secluded beach of La Cala. We have kayaks and a small motor boat which we keep on the beach. By sea it's less than 10 minutes to reach Marciana Marina where we do the shopping (and we fish on the way there and back). There are numerous walks both towards Marciana Marina and S'Andrea. My husbands brings his bike and has been enjoying some good cycling around the island. It's the perfect location to have a quiet outdoor sea holiday and if you have a boat you can forget the car for the length of your stay. Previous reviews do a pretty good job at describing this property and its location, I can't add much more aside that I really really recommend it! Costanza - Geneva, CH
