We will start by saying that even before we arrived here the friendliness and high levels of communication from Anna and Vanessa were exceptional. We had all the information we needed to get there, so we found the property easily. Anna and her team look after you very well. The property itself is beautiful and is easily the best looked after apartment/villa we have rented over 25 years of family holidays. The attention to detail is first class. Whatever you think you might need from a holiday apartment, it's there. The apartment is large and as we were only 3 people we had lots of space. There are 2 very large bathrooms with really good showers, essential after a hot day out in the countryside. The apartment is one of three in the property so there are other families around and the pool is shared but you do have your own allocated loungers/poolside area. Pool towels are also kindly provided. The Arceno estate is very well situated in wonderful rolling Chianti countryside, any visitor will not be short of options for wine tasting with so many vineyards nearby. Also nearby are many wonderful hilltop villages which we tended to explore in the mornings then come back for lunch on the patio before a cooling afternoon by the pool. Siena is also only 20 mins away by car so is easy for a day trip and more of a city experience. From Siena you can catch a train to Florence. Both cities are wonderful, if very hot compared to the Chianti hills which always seemed a few degrees cooler. We read a lot about "Chiantishire" before we left the UK and so we were a little concerned that it might be overrun by tourists but that is not the case at all in the area around the apartment. Eating out options near the apartment are reasonably plentiful and range from Michelin star establishments to simple local cuisine. Castelnuovo Berardenga has several restaurants, we tried most of them and found the food to be pretty good with a good choice if not extensive menus. The restaurant hosts were in our experience very friendly. We would suggest that you book tables as occasionally places were full . The wine lists of course were fantastic! The other villages nearby all have at least one restaurant. We have no hesitation in recommending this apartment for a family who wants to have a great location to explore the beauty of Tuscany.

All that you have read elsewhere is true. The property is amazing, filled with every attention to detail, we were never in want of anything. Location is fantastic, close to Florence, many vineyards (worth a visit) & the numerous amazing places that Tuscany boasts. We particularly liked Sienna, friendly atmosphere with very many nice places to visit & eat and perhaps drink the odd glass of wine. We were lucky that the Palio was on when we were there, something we were extremely fortunate to experience. Of course all of this was knitted together by Rita who works with James & Penny. Need a birthday cake for your daughters birthday - sorted. Need a restaurant booking - sorted. Need a guide booking for you - sorted. Need parking for The Palio (or seats for the Palio) as well as a detailed it itinerary for the day - sorted. Nothing was ever too much trouble to help you & your family enjoy their Tuscan holiday. At every stage of our holiday we were made welcome & truly the home from home experience is one that we truly experienced. Thank You James, Penny, Rita & all that go together to make this place and our time with it so special. Warm regards Michael, Sue, Isaac, Thomas & Olivia

This was a perfect holiday destination, the house was fantastic and exceeded all of our expectations. Costaberci is brilliantly situated for exploring Tuscany or for just staying put and relaxing. When we come back to Tuscany, this is where we will stay! The house is completely private and enclosed by laurel hedges with a lovely garden and terrace and excellent views of the Tuscan countryside (you can just make out the tower in Siena). Marco was the perfect host explaining how to use everything in the house (and the hot tub) and even gave us a bottle of his father's olive oil (which was so delicious that we bought some home with us) and when he left he told us to eat the peaches from the tree and to contact him if we needed anything at all. All of the rooms are well equipped, clean and very comfortable, towels and bedding are provided and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots and pans, cutlery, plates, glasses, stovetop espresso etc; there's even a dishwasher and washing machine. Within a 10 minute walk there is an ice cream shop and a couple of shops selling local produce (€1.90 for a litre of decent red wine and an amazing aubergine salad) and there is a restaurant about 1 km away. The supermarket is only a short drive and in Castelnuovo Berardenga itself (about 6km away) there are some fantastic restaurants and the the best ice cream shop we went to. Siena is about 6km away, Florence was just over an hour's drive and it only took an hour and a half to drive to the very beatiful seaside resort of Porto Santo Stefano; the countryside is beatiful to drive through and there are endless places to explore. Please come and stay at Costaberci, you will not be disappointed by the house or by Marco's hospitality; we recommend it unreservedly.
