Hiking, walking, mountain biking and wildlife spotting are just some of the many activities on the agenda, and water-based activities can be found in abundance on beautiful Lake Maggiore, which is just a few short kilometres away.

Fabulous views over Maggiore and a comfortable flat

5 of 5
The apartment is high up on the hillside looking over the lake. It is a wonderful location in a small village about 3 miles from Stresa. The flat was very comfortable and the balcony was lovely to relax on and to admire the view. There are also some good walks that pass through the village. It does feel a bit remote even in the village and the garage for the car is up a very very steep slope. Stresa was very touristy at the weekend but quiet in the week.

A beautiful apartment with beautiful views; just be careful driving down to Stresa

4 of 5
We followed the owner's instructions re. not using SatNav and our arrival was fine. Do NOT follow SatNav, please, for your own peace of mind! The apartment is really lovely and fairly well-equipped and, with its balcony overlooking the lake, you could spend hours just doing nothing. Stresa is fantastic for ambling about, especially along the lake front. Lots of restaurants, pizza parlours and gelato shops, and some really lovely shops. There are so many things to do but one of the best is to take the cable cars/ski lift to top of the mountain and, while there, have a go on the 750-metre luge. The lake is a must, and we visited just two of the islands. We went to a restaurant on Isola dei Pescatori and enjoyed a lovely meal of the lake fish , and then continued to Isola Bella. The palace and gardens there are out of this world, and for 16 Euros it is well worth visiting.
