Make A Holiday Rental Villa in Casale Marittimo, Italy, Your Home Away From Home

The very small and tranquil town of Casale Marittimo is located close to the Mediterranean coast, in Pisa province, Lombardy. This is an ideal spot within the beautiful country of Italy, as it is a mere 70 km from the awesome city of Florence and only 50 km from the major tourist attraction that is Pisa. Self catering accommodation in this part of southern Europe is offered at a typically high standard and indeed many properties will come with the exclusive use of your own pool.

Things to Do on Holiday in Casale Marittimo, Italy

Holidays in Casale Marittimo will be bang-smack in the middle of plenty of Italian action. However, if you prefer to just chill out and relax in your comfortable self catering villa, this will be a definite possibility for you as well. To be fair, there is not a huge choice of activities available within the small town of Casale Marittimo. This is pretty much restricted to a few quaint buildings and some small cafés and bars. Within the local area, however, there is ample opportunity to explore the natural flora and fauna of the area by way of a walking tour or cycling. Swimming is also a popular pastime and as your accommodation in Casale Marittimo will be situated conveniently close to the sea, all members of your travelling party should be more than content.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Casale Marittimo, Italy

If you are ready to lock up your holiday villa for a day or two, there are two cities that are an absolute must for your sightseeing itinerary. The closest is Pisa: at a mere 50 km (around 30 miles) from the centre of Casale Marittimo. You should hardly need reminding that the Leaning Tower of Pisa is the most popular draw to this city and, in fact, one of the most visited attractions in the whole of Italy. Then, of course, you must spare some time to take in the sights and cultural delights of Florence - known to the Italians as ‘Firenze’. To be fair, you’re going to struggle to cram all of the sights into one day, therefore, you may need to plan a couple of days in the city. Sights include The Piazza del Duomo, Geological and Palaeontology Museum, Palace Mediceo and The Botanical Gardens.

Weather in Casale Marittimo, Italy

Visitors on their holidays in Casale Marittimo will be able to look forward to a warm Mediterranean climate. This means that you can expect some quite barmy temperatures during the summer months: averaging at around 30 degrees Celsius at times. The winters are quite mild and temperatures often remain within the low teems degrees Celsius. The average rainfall in this part of Italy is around 17 inches per year.

Travel to Casale Marittimo, Italy

Both of little more than an hour’s drive from Casale Marittimo accommodation. You can choose between a number of UK airports, including London Gatwick (LGW), London Heathrow (LHR), Bristol (BRS), East Midlands (EMA) and Edinburgh (EDI).

The property was in a great location for touring around Tuscany. Lovely gardens and apartments that were all maintained to a high standard. Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to explore this area.

Fantastic setting & a great base to exploreTuscany

5 of 5
We booked for a week from 23rd Oct hoping for a chance to explore Tuscany. Ideally we wanted somewhere peaceful but reasonably close to a town or village and centrally placed to get out and about, we weren't disappointed. The house is no more than 1 mile from the beautiful town of Volterra, historic streets lined with lovely shops, bars and restaurants, we had to tear ourselves away to explore the region! The owner was very easy to deal with when booking the house and provided detailed information not just about the house, but the local area as well. Upon arrival, late at night, we were delighted with the welcome hamper that had been left to greet us, with some delicious local goodies it made a very nice start to our break. The view from the veranda that greeted us the next morning was incredible - and we spent one entire day just sat out admiring it - with some local produce to keep us sustained! The house was spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed, of particular use was the wifi, which, despite the owners warning, was very reliable in terms of connection for the entire week. Very comfy beds with plenty of storage space and a lovely garden to roam around, the house is accurately described, with a perfectly acceptable kitchen should you decide to self-cater.We travelled to San Gimignano (twice) and would recommend the ice cream from the shop in the square with 'world’s best ice cream' on their sign - we wouldn't disagree! Also the view from the point on right hand side of the main street - spectacular. We drove to Poggibonsi and caught the train to Florence - 7 euros each - free parking by the station and an hour on the train with return trains every hour - perfectly simple. An hour’s drive in the other direction is Sienna via Monteriggioni - well worth a visit and have a lunch at the restaurant half way down the main street on the right - not cheap but worth every penny. We also went for a drive west from Volterra to Bolgheri via Montecatini - the only problem being we had to stop every few miles to take photographs of the view! Our final trip was up to Viareggio north of Pisa, a beautiful walk on the beach, even in October - and some very high class shopping on the front, we called in at the leaning tower of Pisa on the way back home - amazing. All in all a busy but very interesting week. I would certainly recommend that you stay here, the only thing we didn't try was the well proportioned swimming pool - well it was the last week in October!

Peaceful Tuscan Retreat

5 of 5
My husband, younger don and I stayed at Miria and Adriano's beautiful farmhouse during my son's October school holiday. The farmhouse is as beautiful as the pictures show. It is roomy, comfortable and individually decorated. Chianni is a super village with 3 really good restaurants within walking distance. There are also a couple of bars, ATMs and mini markets. The Saturday market offers an excellent choice of fruit and vegetables. The farmhouse is a great base to tour Tuscany. We visited Volterra, Lajtico, San Giminjano, Florence, Lucca, Livorno and Pisa. Miria and Adriano gave us a very warm welcome, were accommodating in topping up the wifi and took great care to ensure we made the most of our visit. It farmhouse is at the bottom of a very steep stones path which is pitch dark in the evening so flat shoes and a torch are required! We would have no hesitation in recommending the farmhouse and Chianni in general. Grazie tanto, speriamo di essere di nuovo. Judith, Alan and Jamie
