Make a holiday rental home or villa in Campania Italy your home away from home

Campania, a southern region of Italy, is an incredible region. Here are world renowned destinations of all varieties, from the stunning Amalfi coast, the romantic islands of Capri and Ischia, the tragic city of Pompeii, and the historic yet cosmopolitan city of Naples, Campania’s capital, and the wild mountains of the hinterland. This is not to mention that Campania is the birthplace of the pizza, spaghetti and mozzarella, so it clearly has enough gastronomic delights to make taking a self-catering holiday villa in Campania a real treat!

Places to holiday in Campania, Italy

Naples’ cobbled streets are alive with colour and flavour. Vibrant little cafes and restaurants nestle in between Baroque churches, massive fortresses and Royal Palaces whilst looking out over the magnificent bay. Just outside Naples, but still within Naples Province, is the Royal Palace of Caserta, a 1200 room treasure which is considered better than Versailles.

The Amalfi Coast and Salerno, the largest city on this part of the Coast, is a stunning mountainous stretch of Italian coastline just south of Naples. It is adorned with idyllic villages hanging to staggering cliffs, above blissful cove beaches. A holiday rental on the Almalfi coast provides a beautiful, cultured beach break, but also allows you to truly discover a little of Italy, and explore the magical heritage of this part of the world.

The Islands of Capri and Ischia have been holiday favourites since Roman times, when Emperor Tiberius built his holiday villa in Capri, the Villa Jovis which is still a hugely popular tourist site today. The Blue Grotto in Capri is a beautiful cave on the waters edge, where the crystal clear waters and warm sun combine to make this spot a haven to relax. The islands of Capri and Ischia offer hiking with breathtaking views, and breathtaking climbs on occasion!

Pompeii is one of the world’s most celebrated archaeological sites. Even if you usually have no interest in archaeology and history, you will be fascinated and intrigued by Pompeii, and Mt Vesuvius, which hides its vicious past.

Breathtaking terrace with spectacular views!!!!!

5 of 5
This is probably the best apartment we have stayed in. The rooms are open and spacious and beautifully decorated and furnished. The apartment itself when you walk around is wow enough, until you climb up the stairs to the very large roof terrace and you are taken aback with the stunning views and superbly adorned and furnished space, the pictures just do not do it justice. We spent every possible moment we could up there. Claudia was most helpful and on hand if needed. We were also pleasantly surprised by the amount of snacks, fruit and supplies left for us including a glass of Prosecco which was extremely welcome after the long journey in the car from Naples Airport. The area itself is gorgeous, the scenery does not disappoint and there is a view around every corner. We loved Marina Del Cantone it was small and quiet with some nice restaurants. They also had boat trips to Capri and the Amalfi Coast. The only thing I think you need to bear in mind if you take a car the car-park will cost you 15 euros per day but don't let this put you off. The whole package was extremely good value even with this extra cost. A beautiful house in a beautiful location and we would definitely return.

Fantastic, superlative, there are just no words.....

5 of 5
This place is just fantastic and if you know the Amalfi Coast you will know what this property has is hard to find and invaluable. You can park, it has it’s own gate so driving or hiring a car is straightforward and not the parking lottery which accompanies most stays in this region. The property has a lift (U.S. elevator) - almost unheard of here, removing the usual hundreds of steps required every time you venture out. There is a beautiful plunge/ hydro pool, almost impossible to find at this price, gorgeously designed. It has a huge terrace for dining and relaxing with stunning views of the coast, close enough to hear the waves on the rocks below. Minori is an easy walk where you can buy everything you may need and the town is serviced by a water taxi which opens up the entire Amalfi Coast- Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Sorrento - without any hassle associated with using the buses or parking. The interior is beautiful and large for this region. Amalfi properties tend to be hewn from the rockface and therefore are generally not large by the standards of other areas, but this property is larger than most. The building is stunning, an old minature castle, a stand out property on the cliff edge. We stayed as two couples, 4 people, but it could accommodate 6 easily without compromising space. But what stood out more than any of the excellent reasons to stay here listed above was the owner and host of Little Castle of the Moors, Francescopaulo. A kinder, more helpful or more attentive host could not be imagined, an amazing guy who it was a genuine pleasure to get to know in the brief time we spent with him. Francescopaulo can transform your stay from a villa coastal holiday into a full appreciation of the region. He offered to take us shopping to ensure we knew where to go and that we had enough supplies for the week- essential if your are self catering on the wonderful veranda and if you don’t know the shops in the area. He offered to take us to the best sights and let us know what festivals and local attractions were on offer while we were there. He ensured everything in the villa was as needed and was available whenever we needed. One of life’s true gentlemen and good souls, it seems much of his love, kindness and attention to detail has been transfigured into his wonderful villa and you can feel it all around you as you soak up it’s amazing vistas. Recommended and five star doesn’t come close- if you are looking in this region you simply have to go.
