Bracciano Castle is one of the most important in Italy, not to mention one of the most beautiful, both inside and out. It is rare to be able to describe a castle as beautiful, but as soon as you lay eyes on the structure on the approach to your Bracciano holiday accommodation, you will know why. The castle has been magnificently preserved, with the original frescos still adorning the interior walls. The castle not only holds some of the finest masterpieces by local artists and sculptors, but also houses a huge proportion of the archaeological artefacts discovered in the area.

There is a huge bike rental centre in the town, which also provide maps and details on some of the best routes throughout the Lazio countryside. There is even free delivery of your bike direct to the front door of your Bracciano accommodation.

Food connoisseurs out there will be right in their element too. The area is well known for its cuisine, and the proximity of Lake Bracciano means that there is a special flavour to local dishes, which use eel and perch to add flavour to the already hearty dishes of game, mushroom and white wines that Rome Province is famous for.

Superb hostess! Charming, spotless oasis in city

5 of 5
What a blessing to have had such a gracious host in Giorgia. Her place is an oasis. The courtyard is a particularly relaxing place to sit back and enjoy local food and wine at the end of a long day of sightseeing. And her tips and recommendations on where to eat, shop and visit etc. were spot on. She shares her pride in her surroundings by inviting you to neighbouring business owners who were only too happy to provide excellent service and attention (she's so right about the Gelato and the really good Sushi down the street). The subway is close by and very easy to navigate ( *though we found out the hard way that subway only runs to 10 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays! go to a taxi stop). We especially found the 3 day "O Roma pass" helpful (get it through viator.com) as it included the hop-on-hop-off tour buses and jump-the-line ticket purchases for various sites. The 1-day high speed train ride to Florence was wonderful and also easy to navigate from this location (just grab subway to train station). Giorgia's thoroughness and willingness to immediately take us up on some suggestions demonstrate that she is a most attentive host. So glad we also took her up on her recommendation of hiring Alessandro's car service as he was on time, had a spotless vehicle and was very responsive. Thank you Giorgia, for your hospitality and for sharing your lovely location. We've already recommended it to several people (one already tried to book but the days were not avaible!). We wish you the good fortune of good houseguests for years to come. Regards, Stewart & Julianne
