We have just returned from a great holiday at Andre and Bruna''s apartment in Porto Alabe. The apartment is very clean and spacious, well equipped with everything you need to self cater for 2 weeks. There is a large balcony with great sea and sunset views. Andre and Bruna are great hosts, very kind and friendly, but also discreet so that you can really relax. The village and area are very beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The beach is 2 min walk from the apartment and is large with combination of sand and rocks, great for swimming and snorkeling. There are a good variety of other beautiful beaches in the area. The town of Bosa is 10 min drive away with good shops, restaurants etc, it is a very pretty place with an interesting castle and a lovely old town with cobbled streets and brightly coloured houses, well worth several visits. All in all, a great place to stay for peace and quiet, lovely swimming relaxing.
We stayed at Casa Dei Nonni for one week at the end of August. It is a large and well equipped house. We particularly enjoyed the view from the first floor terrace. The pool is much bigger than we expected it to feel with plenty of room for all three of us to splash around in. The garden is very pretty with lots of flowering shrubs and fruit trees making it a nice space to relax in.
The location of this property is very good to be able to enjoy both the beaches and the mountains. The village is very quiet and we heard virtually no traffic noise at all. Mostly we heard just birds and perhaps some intermittent distant chatter. There is a very small playground in the village, which was appreciated by our daughter. More facilities in terms of shops and restaurants are a few minutes drive in the next town.
Just to give you a heads up: you will need to spend a bit of time managing the rubbish during your stay. The Italians are very particular about which type of rubbish goes in which bin. They collect each type on a different day and we didn’t find it easy to understand which day was which. The agency managing the property were helpful giving us additional information.
Also just a small point, the single beds have large wooden frames around them meaning that you can’t push them together. So for a couple on holiday you will feel rather separate.
We enjoyed our holiday at this property, especially feeling part of a Sardinian community. The local village people were all very friendly, many of them struck up conversations with us even though we don’t speak Italian! We especially liked the lady who lived a couple of doors down who walked around the village wearing a Union Jack apron!
Thank you to Wendy and John for sharing their home with us.
