Owners very welcoming, information first class, and apartment high spec. Everything you needed was provided, including a glorious view.
Convenient for visiting spectacular Taormina, brooding Mt. Etna and the Cyclope Riviera.
Carmelo and his wife are very pleasant people who guided us through the property on our arrival (although we never got to grips with the refuse collection calendar). Carmelo was up very early every morning maintaining the pool and other than when they went out in their cars we did not see them.
The villa was lovely and very roomy especially as one of our party could not make it at the last minute. It is an old building with all that that entails; it is well furnished and equipped and with the louvered shutters closed very cool (unfortunately this also made it dark which, having a couple of short flights of steps inside was a bit hazardous if the light wasn't on)
The garden was very peaceful as the town was fairly quiet (although there was a religious festival all this month which meant three bangers went off at about 7.30 every morning but fortunately we were already awake). It is not overlooked and very spacious with great vies of Etna. There is plenty of sun-beds, a bbq, dining tables and garden seating.
A previous review complains about the church bells which although they do chime every quarter hour (1 to 12 for the hour and 1 to 3 for the quarter) we generally found them unobtrusive. There are two occasions each day (about 8am and 6pm when they have a fit; probably for some religious reason).
The town has all the amenities required especially an ice cream parlour. As well as Etna there is plenty of places within easy driving to visit (try Aci Castello for a promenade) and we preferred Catania to Palermo. Try and visit places early mainly to avoid the afternoon sun. The island itself is, despite being hilly, very green and pleasant.
When driving don't be timid especially around towns, there seems little regard for traffic laws even from the police.
Overall we thoroughly recommend not only this villa but Sicily.
