Beautiful gardens, friendly hosts

4 of 5
As other reviewers have said, from outside you would not know that this oasis exists on the outskirts of the city of Viterbo. A car is a 'must have' item staying here, which is no bad thing. We arrived really needing a week's rest, and that's exactly what we got. The property is immaculately kept and well equipped, the beds are comfortable, all the windows have fly screens to keep out the mozzies and the open plan living room area has air conditioning, which was very welcome. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, and microwave, fridge, kettle, etc. There's a tv in each room with a few English speaking films to be found here and there on it. Our son brought along his Playstation, which plugged into the one in his bedroom and the wifi was good enough for him to play online. Outside the gardens are very nicely kept. I don't think I've ever seen such a variety and number of butterflies in my life. We even saw a few praying mantis hanging around, and every so often we would see a little lizard break cover and scurry across the ground. Birds flit around from bush to bush. The pool is great. It's unheated, but surprisingly not freezing cold, and about 5ft deep throughout. It's also very well maintained, and doesn't smell of chlorine at all. There's shade from the trees over parts of the pool if you want to stay out of the sun. The owners are friendly and helpful, with that personal touch, like leaving a few kitchen essentials for the guests, so that you don't starve or go thirsty when you first arrive, which was much appreciated, as was the basket of home grown vegetables they gave us part way through the week. Very tasty. Personally, when I go to Italy I want to live like the Italians do, and I wasn't disappointed here. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anybody who needs a place to rest and relax.

We were a gang of friends wanting a easy escape and this was perfect- the pictures do not do the place justice, it's much much better in real life! Will definitely be coming back next year!
