Things to do

-Beaches. For a stunning beach you need look no further than Andora’s own waterfront, which features a long, wide and sandy bay backed by wooded mountains and complemented by an array of amenities. There are other options too, just moments away in either direction, at Laigueglia and San Bartolomeo de Mare.

-Nature. The Savona province’s natural scenery is well worth experiencing, with a wealth of opportunities for outdoor adventure. You could walk a portion of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri trail, which passes close by and spans the width of Liguria. There’s also wonderful terrain in the mountains for cyclists and horseback riding is also available.

-Cuisine. Ligurian cuisine is composed of the freshest ingredients produced on the land and caught in the sea. The world-renowned sauce, pesto is perhaps the region’s most famous product, made from local basil, pine punts and parmesan. There are also a number of fish soups to try, like buridda and ciuppin. Ligurian wines include Bianchetta and Ormeasco.

-Local towns. The town of Savona is very attractive, with an old centre that dates to the 1400s and 1500s. Take time to see the Priamar fortress, built by the Genoese in the mid-16th Century. Another essential destination for a trip is Albenga, the centre of which is crammed with history and boasts the Baptistery, with an interior from the 400s.

-Genoa. This historical port of Genoa is a comfortable drive around the coast from the town of Andora, and definitely warrants the journey. It’s an historic port, dotted with historic buildings. A good reason to head here would also be to see the Aquarium, which is the second-largest in Europe and one of northern Italy’s top visitor attractions.

Bohemian hideaway in the Ligurian hills

4 of 5
Great location away from the hustle and bustle of the towns and yet a short drive from Dolcedo, which has a good range of restaurants from high end to cheap and easy pizza. The apartment is a 20-30 minute drive away from beaches and coastal towns. The apartment is very characterful and well stocked with items your average tourist will need. If you are looking for minimalist with all mod cons this may not be the apartment for you. Our hosts were extremely helpful and full of local information and advice. If you need a tranquil nights sleep in full quiet, please note that the church bells are very close to the property and ring throughout the night for some unknown reason they chime twice in the space of 5 mins ... so 12 am is quite interesting!! We did get used to it 😊 Overall a great area, with lots to see and do, no matter what your tastes are. The apartment is a great base to explore from or just sit on the veranda and take in the beautiful views.
