Family Reunion

4 of 5
The house is in a very quiet lane about 4 miles from Kiltimagh which is a small town with amenities for groceries and such. It is in an idyllic location with views over the countryside from every window. It is exactly like the pictures listed and we met the caretaker in Kiltimagh, then followed him to the house, it would have been difficult to find on our own. The caretaker showed us around the house and gave us his phone number to contract if we needed anything. He was very responsive, one of the guests found it difficult to sleep and we asked if we could get a fan for the bedroom, the caretaker delivered a fan for our use. There are laundry facilities within the home and nothing has been forgotten in relation to every convenience offered. We were 4 families, including 4 girls aged between 11 and 13 who shared the dormitory bedroom. We arrived from Australia, England and America to share this home for a family reunion in the Swinford area. We were supposed to be 5 couples including 4 girls but one couple were not able to come. On arriving at the house we realized this was actually a good thing as the house only had beds for 12 but is listed as able to accommodate 14. The electric gates did not work and probably haven't for quite a while but I doubt these were ever needed as the area seemed very safe, this did not bother us and I only mention it in case it might bother others. What was frustrating was not being able to access the lake due to there not being a path cut in the grass leading to it. The caretaker informed us this should have been done a month or so ago but the farmer hasn't done it yet. The whole field outside of the garden area was not really accessible and if the owner had someone cut a path to the lake it would have made an enjoyable walk. This really is a perfect house for a large group or a couple of families. When renting you should pay particular attention to the floor plan picture supplied, One of the bedrooms is only accessible through another bedroom and shares the bathroom of the adjoining bedroom. This made it a challenge in our group as each of the couples would have liked their own bedroom and bathroom. All in all I would recommend this house and would consider staying again if we ever return. We had a lovely reunion, it helped to return to this beautiful house at the end of every day. It is spacious and well maintained.

A peaceful haven for a relaxing family holiday!

5 of 5
We spent 5 nights in Michael's lodge - and loved it! The rooms were very spacious, everything was well looked after and Michael and his wife were very welcoming and helpful. Our girls loved swimming in the loch every day, and the rowing boat was an added novelty. Near the cabin we saw deer and red squirrels. Lots of places within driving distance, plenty to see and do. The Irish people were very friendly everywhere we went.
