Stayed for two nights, wish it could have been longer. Newly refurbished, clean and well appointed. Close to the centre of town on a quiet pedestrian street but with parking outside the door. Helpful and responsive owner, we couldn't have been happier for the first two nights of our holiday.
Great house in a great location. The owners are extremely helpful and the house is lovely and has everything you could possibly want. They left plenty of towels - more than one each - which was useful.
There's a garage at the back of the house, which we used. We had to take off our roof box to get the car in the garage, which wasn't a problem, as there's a utility room/second kitchen with lots of space and we put it in there. There are also car parks close to the house, which we could have used.
The IJsselmeer - now an enormous lake that used to be the sea before a dam was built across it - is less than a minute's walk from the house. There are several very small beaches close to the house.
There's so much to do. The town of Hoorn is beautiful, with a marina and an inner harbour, with cafes, etc. There are several old sailing barges and other boats to look at. The town has preserved its old architecture and cobbled pavements and roads.
The train goes from Hoorn to Amsterdam (30 mins) and you can walk to the station from the house. We drove up the coast to Enkhuizen (about 40 mins drive), along a very small coastal road, which turned out to be the dyke road, with great views of the water and sailing boats. We also had a day at the lovely sandy beach at Bergen aan Zee (about 40 mins drive) - small and unspoilt, but with a few cafes and an acquarium.
Not knowing any Dutch wasn't ever a problem, as English is very widely known.
Tia and Nic are very supportive and welcoming and offered to answer any questions at any point during our stay. In fact, that wasn't needed, as everything was straightforward.
Thank you, Nic and Tia, for a wonderfully relaxing break.
