  • Lovely quiet villa close to Athens, historic sites and the seaside
    5 of 5

Just returned from an amazing week in Athens staying at this beautiful villa in the famous town of Marathon nearby. The weather was lovely, even at the end of October, and so we could make use of the pool and lovely gardens as well as the nearby beach which is the site where the Persians landed prior to the battle of marathon. It is a short drive of approx 45 mins into the centre of Athens to explore the historic sites and the region is littered with other sites of historic significance and beautiful scenery. The owners of the villa are very friendly and helpful to ensure everything is well and that you have a great stay. I would definitely recommend and would stay again if returning to the region.

  • Beautiful views, quiet beach, comfortable house with garden and lovely outside spaces.

Booking and communication with Alex at Blue Windows, was efficient, straightforward and friendly. The directions to the house from Athens are considered and detailed and we appreciated them. However had Eirini not met us in Porto Buffalo , we would not have found the house so we are grateful to her for that. Eirini could not have been more helpful to us or more friendly. She gave us a lovely welcome, despite us being late and showed us around the house. She was always available to contact if we needed help. The house is very comfortable, airy and extremely clean. There are direct views to the beautiful bay and a very short walk down through the garden to the beach . The water is calm and it is a wonderful bay to swim in and to watch the boats coming in for the day. The beach is pebbled ( which I prefer). It’s a quiet beach with usually only the people from the holiday house next door and some local residents. On our last day there was only ourselves and three or four others on the beach, so plenty of space and privacy. I had been worried about the track down to the house from the road , but it was fine. We drove slowly and there were no problems. The road between Porto Buffalo and the entrance to the track leading to the house was however for me, a cautious driver, intimidating. Often a single track , not always in great condition, with few passing places for one stretch of it and a sheer drop on one side , made it , for me, probably not for a local or more confident driver, an anxious drive. Especially when we met an oncoming articulated lorry in the dark! Apart from that we had a very restful break in this lovely place and would recommend it.
