Skyros has lots of interesting places to visit including historic buildings and museums such as the Faltaits Folklore Museum. The Byzantine Castle of Skyros offers great views of the town and sea. Inside the castle there is the Monastery of Agios Georgios, which is thought to have been founded in the 10th century. Animal lovers may like to head to the southeast of Skyros town as this is home to a unique breed of ponies only found on the island. The main villages of the island are the capital, Chora and Linaria, which is a port and both are well worth visiting for the traditional architecture as well as the nightlife.
