Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in the Peloponnese, Greece your home away from home

The Peloponnese, the most southerly point region of Greece stands out among Mediterranean holiday destinations as a location with something to suit all travellers. It is a mythical, rugged land, covered in mountains, where the air is filled with the aroma of the Mediterranean and the sounds of local music.

Things to do on holiday to the Peloponnese, Greece

Holidays to the Peloponnese are such a great option for mixed parties as there is hugely diverse amount of activities, culture and points of interest on offer to enjoy. Hill walking, mountain biking, car or cycle touring, ancient ruins, sailing, yachting and glorious beaches are all found in close proximity to a villa in the Peloponnese, all presented in some of the most scenic landscapes in Greece. The more discerning holiday makers will take full advantage of the range of activities, sites and cultural activities by using the flexibility and freedom of a private property rental in the Peloponnese.

Some of the best beaches in Greece are in the Peloponnese. The beach at Messenia is particularly well loved by both locals and tourists alike, but there are also many secluded beaches to sunbathe on in the region too.

The ancient ruins of Olympia, Palace of Agamemnon in Mycenae and the Theatre of Epidravos are all within easy distance of an apartment in the Peloponnese, and are well worth visiting if you have the chance.

The cuisine of the Peloponnese is fantastic, and dining in one of the famous tavernas or kafeneios will not only allow you to try authentic Greek food, based on freshly harvested olives, tomatoes and seafood, washed down with Ouzo, but you can also test your rhythm in an impromptu Kalamatiano dance circle.

Places to holiday to the Peloponnese, Greece

Nafplion is known as one of the most romantic holiday destinations on the Argolic Gulf. The beautiful Venetian architecture is overshadowed by the domineering fortresses which guard Nafplio’s coast. Of the three main fortresses, the Palamidi Fortress is the most impressive and is certainly worth investigation when staying in any of the accommodation in the Peloponnese.

The Taygetus and Parnon Mountains are stunning regions, and those looking to explore the natural habitats, nature and beautiful landscapes of the Peloponnese, are an essential destination. There are a range of well marked walking and cycling trails, and jeep hire available for off-roading.

Travel to Peloponnese, Greece

Many travellers staying in villas in the Peloponnese fly from the UK direct to Athens International Airport (ATH), and then catch a bus to Nafplio, Mycenae or Corinth, depending on the location of their holiday accommodation.

well equipped appartment in a great setting

5 of 5
We stayed here for a week in mid September 2018 where we enjoyed perfect weather. The flat is as described, very comfy; with two bathrooms, and an exceedingly well equipped kitchen. We liked the fact that there were, as stated, dishwasher tabs and washing machine detergent available, also various condiments (which we added to). The walk down to the shingly beach is quick and easy and the beach was practically our own. (It's a shame that beach towels aren't provided, but we found that the market in Nafplion sell them for 5 euros.) A car IS essential- we had planned to make our way from Athens by public transport but there are only 2 direct buses each day - although one nearly every hour to Nafplion, where we ended up by hiring a car from Hermes Travel- recommended. We really appreciated that parking had been arranged nearby because it was impossible to park by the apartment - for the whole of our stay there were two cars parked there that didn't move, meaning it was impossible to turn round (a better driver than myself might have no difficulty reversing up and round the corner though!). The walk into the village (via the shortcut) takes 15 to 20 minutes at most and there are several tavernas by the sea which look very attractive - the menus though, this late in the season, are rather misleading - most of our choices were unavailable. Of the two food shops in the village one appears to have variable opening times but the other (the nearest) is reliable and sells all the (limited) basics including fresh milk, fresh bread, great olives and other essentials. For a larger selection, we took Brian's advice and shopped in the first supermarket you get to in Astros (10k). There is a Lidl in Argos (20k), and markets in Astros on Fridays, and Nafplion on Saturdays, so we did LOTS of cooking. We had a great time, the place is really very peaceful, and the neighbours friendly.

The house was perfect for us 2 adults, one 7 year old child). We were looking for a quiet location and got it. Everything was clean, and we enjoyed staying in this beautiful area and modern and cozy home. The communication with Stavros was excellent. And it was great to talk to his father at the home, who was very kind and helpful. We enjoyed the time very much, thanks again to Stavros and Louris!
