Discover beautiful Paros on your next holiday.

Paros is one of the most important Cycladic islands in terms of history and archaeology, and some of these artefacts are on display in the Archaeological Museum of Paros. Known for its fine white marble, this tiny island is comprised of several stunning beaches and a few small towns. Parikia is the capital of the island, and most active during the summer tourist season, when visitors from all over the world come to take in the Greek culture, cuisine, and history.

For larger groups, HomeAway offers a variety of villa-style villas on Paros. These range in capacity from 10-20 and include amenities such as full kitchens and swimming pools. HomeAway offers over 80 Paros villas and guarantees to have a rental to match your holiday needs and desires. For single-family holidays or romantic getaways, HomeAway offers various Paros apartments to accommodate every traveller's needs. These rentals are equipped with a variety of amenities.

For those wishing to island hop, HomeAway also offers holiday homes on Mykonos and holiday homes on Santorini, as well as on other nearby islands.

Things to do

Parikia:

Explore Paros' capital city of Parikia during your holiday. As a major port in the Cyclades islands, Parikia enjoys multiple daily ferries both to and from Athens, as well as to and from the other major islands (such as Santorini). The city is home to approximately 4,500 permanent residents.

Kokou Horse Riding Center:

The Kokou Horse Riding Center was opened on Paros in 1988. Twenty horses reside at the riding center, and are available for individual and group rides. Reservations are a possibility, as well as transportation to the riding center. The owners, a Canadian couple, are happy to provide other useful tips for a stay on Paros.

Panagia Ekatontapiliani:

The Panagia Ekatontapiliani is the island's principle church, the 'church of a hundred doors'. It is thought to date back to 326 AD, which predates the Greek mandate for Christianity as the national religion in 391 AD. Pay a visit to Lefkes, a mountain village about six miles from the capital of Parikia.

Windsurfing:

The strait between Paros and Naxos provides ideal windsurfing conditions year-round. The Meltemi winds make for extremely attractive conditions for veteran windsurfers. There are several beaches where one can windsurf. The Windsurfing World Cup has even taken place on Paros in past years.

Petaloudes Park:

Petaloudes Park houses a butterfly sanctuary known as Valley of the Butterflies. In May, June, and July, the butterflies lie dormant during the day and then fly upward toward cooler air in the evening. Visitors are asked not to disturb the butterflies with photography or by shaking the branches.

Archaeological Museum:

The Archaeological Museum of Paros was founded in 1960. It is one of Greece's most important museums, due to its collection from the excavations of Paros and Antiparos. These excavations date from the Neolithic period to Early Christian times. The Nike (victor) of Paros and the Gorgo (mermaid) are housed here.

Weather in Paros

The climate on Paros is generally Mediterranean in nature. A hot summer (reaching 29°C) and mild winters (as cold as 13°C) are common. Some light precipitation is possible in the winter. The Etesian winds cause problems for sailors in the summer months, but are ideal for various other watersports, such as windsurfing.

Travel to Paros

Travel to and from Paros has improved greatly in the last few years. The Paros Island National Airport (PAS) makes getting to and from mainland Greece incredibly simple. Alternatively, car-carrying and passenger ferries operate daily to and from the island. On the island of Paros itself, buses, taxis, and boats are available for rent.

A wonderful house and pool garden.

Spiti Valia is a wonderful house and pool garden at the end of a cul-de-sac right in the heart of Naoussa Village. A real oasis hidden away but oh so convenient for shopping, restuarants and taxi transportation. We will definitely stay there again.

Calm place to stay on edge of lovely town in a beautiful island.

Spacious well designed property, in lovely gardens in a small enclave of accommodations. The studio has shutters, helicopter fan and a/c to keep it lovely and cool. The water supply is the only downside, it struggles to cope when 2 showers are in use, but with patience it returns.
