Make yourself at home in the Greek Islands with a Mykonos villa

Among the most popular holiday destinations in Greece, Mykonos boasts one of the region’s most beautiful landscapes.

Known as the great glamour island of Greece, Mykonos boasts a cosmopolitan atmosphere, exciting nightlife, and magnificent beaches, as well as picturesque Cycladic architecture and an abundance of activities for all ages to enjoy.

Once one of the poorest, barest Greek islands, Mykonos was transformed into a bohemian mecca in the late 1950s and is today one of the most popular Greek islands.

The sun-drenched island, located in the centre of the Aegean Sea, is perhaps most famous for its vibrant nightlife, youthful atmosphere, and gay-friendly attitude and is often described as the Ibiza of Greece. But don’t be fooled – this enchanting island also has a rich history and culture, making it the perfect destination for holidaymakers who enjoy the quieter side of life.

Villas in Mykonos

Whether you’re planning a party-filled trip with friends or a more laid back, family vacation, there’s no better way to enjoy all the delights that this island has to offer than by renting one of the many Mykonos villas.

If you’re looking for a villa in Mykonos, there’s plenty of accommodation to choose from. With villas ranging in size, from those that sleep two, to large, sprawling villas with the capacity to accommodate up to 34, you can rest assured that there’ll be a Mykonos villa to meet your requirements and party size.

From BBQs, air conditioning, and private pools, through to spacious gardens, and wheel chair access, there’s such a huge choice of Mykonos accommodation that even the pickiest holidaymaker is sure to find a villa that fits the bill.

Places to visit in Mykonos

The glamour-capital of Greece, Mykonos has a reputation for offering sun, sea, and excitement to young holiday makers looking to party in the sunshine. Offering all sorts of entertainment, bars, and restaurants, Mykonos’ beaches are famous all around the world thanks to their golden sands and crystal clear waters.

But Mykonos is about so much more than just partying in the sunshine – it also offers a whole host of sites, activities, and history. If you’re feeling active, there are plenty of water spots available. For scuba-diving, take the plunge along the island’s more sheltered south coast at Paradise or Kalafati coves’ legal scuba diving sites.

The island’s natural beauty and well-preserved architecture has inspired countless artists, cinematographers, and painters over the years. Located in Chora, Panagia Paraportiani is the most photographed church on the island, dating back to the 15th century, whilst Mykonos Town’s Archaelogical Museum will allow you to take in a fascinating ancient pottery collection.

The most iconic landmark on the island, the Mykonos windmills can be seen from every point of Mykonos Town. Built by the Venetians in the 16 th Century, the windmills were once used to mill wheat but today attract visitors from far and wide.

If you’re visiting with little ones, make sure you make time to visit Petros the Pelican. Now the official mascot of the island, the original Petros was found wounded and cared for by a fisherman. Once cured, rather than leaving, he made Mykonos his home. Although the first Pelican of Mykonos has now passed away, another Pelican has replaced him and can still be seen strolling around the city’s streets.

  • Paradise Beach

One of the best and most iconic party beaches in Greece, Paradise Beach attracts young crowds for its day and night beach parties. The beach is also home to water sports facilities and a diving centre.

  • Little Venice

One of the most romantic places in the whole of Mykonos, Little Venice is a charming neighbourhood filled with elegant old houses that sit precariously on the edge of the sea, with their whitewashed walls casting a striking contrast against the azure blue Aegean Sea.

This picturesque area is the ideal place to enjoy an incredible sunset. There area also plenty of bars, restaurants, and art galleries to explore.

  • Mykonos Town

Known as Chora by the locals, Mykonos Town is a typical Cycladic village. Built amphitheatrically, the town has all the classic features of a traditional Greek town - whitewashed cubic houses with wooden coloured doors, windows and balconies, narrow streets forming a labyrinth, and beautiful churches.

Chora’s streets are lined with cafes, chic boutiques, fine jewellers, and souvenir shops. But there’s also plenty of history. The church complex of Panagia Paraportiani, for example, is a fantastic example of Cycladic architecture that has been recognised as a natural, cultural monument.

  • Ano Mera Village

The second biggest village on Mykonos, Ano Mera offers a quieter glimpse into life on the island. Located around 8km from Mykonos Town, the village brings together several scattered settlements around the historic sites of the Cloister and Panagia.

As well of a small central square with tavernas and pastry shops, the village also offers easy access to some of the areas finest (and quieter!) beaches, such as Kalo Livadi, Elia Kalafatis, and Agia Anna.

  • Ornos

If you’re looking for a quieter or more family friendly beach, head to Ornos, just 3.5km from Mykonos Town. A small haven of beautiful, sandy beaches, with a sprinkling of tavernas and restaurants, Ornos offers glorious golden sands and luscious green waters.

  • Delos

If you’re looking to escape the lively hustle and bustle of the island, take a boat trip to the sacred island of Delos – a landmark of Ancient Greek history and one of the most important archaeological sites in the country.

Great beach side apartment with amazing views

5 of 5
We stayed here in July 2017. This is an amazing beach front apartment in St. Stefanos beach. The apartment is much larger than the photos show and the huge veranda has the wow factor with a beach views right round to Mykonos town. It has a 6 person table and lounge area with couch and two arm chairs. (This maybe a shared veranda with the smaller apartment next door, but no one was there during our stay). The apartment is very clean and has WiFi, although this dropped from time to time and did not work on the veranda. The location is great with Stefanos beach just a a short walk away with three beach side restaurants /cafes, atm, shop (expensive) and obligatory Irish bar for late night drinks. The bus to Mykonos town is every hour from the beach and only takes about 10 mins. A great apartment in a great location!

perfect holiday at this beautiful villa

5 of 5
9 of us girls stayed at Villa Mando on a hen-do and we had the most amazing time. The villa is so lovely with incredible views. Costas and Alex were the best hosts we could have wished for. They made our stay absolutely seamless, helping us to organise everthing from taxis to tables at bars and restaurants etc. I don't know what we would have done without them! Would highly recommend staying here, we had the time of our lives and are dying to go back already!
