  • A true dream holiday hideout

First of all, the accommodation impressed us all along the line! Everything corresponded in all respects to the information in the advertisement and the expectations it conveyed. Yes, it is really as beautiful on site as shown in the pictures! The villa, situated on a spacious and inconspicuously fenced private property, lies quite a bit (approx. 7 km) inland and at an altitude of approx. 300 metres. However, the paved way to the area is no problem even with a normal car. On the property there are a total of four villas. Two free-standing villas and two directly adjacent villas, whose outer areas are separated by a thick hedge. Villa Argiro is one of the latter, but in our opinion it offers the best view and the best exposure to the evening sun from the west. The morning sun was best enjoyed at breakfast on the nice roof terrace. The accommodation, as well as the whole area around the villas were in an extraordinarily well-kept condition. On our arrival we were warmly welcomed by the very sympathetic owner with a Greek welcome gift basket. A short guided tour and briefing to electrical equipment and gate locking of the property then followed. The cleaning of the accommodation took place after agreement with us each three days, the pool cleaning however daily and discreetly between 7 and 8 o'clock in the morning, which always went unnoticed. Via a telephone in the kitchen at any time contact with the landlord was possible. Internet access via Wi-Fi was stable, but the use of streaming services was limited due to limited bandwidth. Mobile reception and data throughput, on the other hand, were excellent. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday on Crete and in Villa Argiro. In any case, we are sure that they will see us again in the Belvedere Villas and that we will spend more great holidays there in the next years! Patrick & Nadine

  • Beautiful house in a stunning area

We felt welcome the instant we walked into this house. The owner was there to meet and greet us, with a lovely lunch prepared and waiting, very welcome after our journey. The house has loads of personality with the owner's flair for design evident throughout: unlike many holiday homes which, in an attempt to appeal to all tastes appeal to none, this one is thoughtfully and imaginatively decorated. Everything was spotlessly clean. The house is located in a small village which, despite being close to Rethymno, feels like rural Greece: the people are very friendly and the pace is nice and slow. Driving back from an early morning walk in Rethmyno one morning, we had to stop the car because an eagle was perched in the middle of the road. The village has three restaurants, all good: our favourite was Mylonas for the quality of the food, the incredible value and, most of all, the friendliness of the staff. This was our second time in Crete and our second time dealing with Valia at ThinkVilla and she is a complete star: it's like having a personal assistant when on holidays!
