  • A stunning house, full of beautiful character

We had the most wonderful stay here. On our arrival we were met and shown around the beautiful house and grounds by the owners who were so helpful and super nice. They left us their own made (very good) Raki, which was the smoothest we had tasted on the island. The house has been restored beautifully, paying real attention to the wonderful character and tradition of the property. On the walls hang wonderful and interesting local art and is furnished likewise. On awaking you open the old shutters to the glorious sunshine, mountain and valley views with the tinkle of goat bells in the distance. It’s peaceful and relaxing. The outside space is so special. Grape vines offer shade, trees, plants, flowers and herbs are all around. There is an outside kitchen and bbq which was so useful and social when spending days outside at the house. The Pool was lovely (a little cold for some of us) and there are several terraces with fantastic views to sit, read and drink wine. It is essential to have a car, as there is so much to see in Crete. There is a car port for 2 cars. The House is in a small quiet village up the mountain 7-10 minutes from the coast. The views are fabulous, mountains and coast. There are no shops in the village the closest being in nearby villages or supermarkets along the coast. There is however the best and very beautiful taverna we visited on our stay. Which serves delicious very local dishes, wine and raki. It’s run by a lovely lady called Maria. The house is comfy and has all the necessary amenities for your stay. We were 2 small families. We were there at the end of October 2018. We had a couple of days of cold windy weather, the rest was lovely sunshine. The food and wine in Crete is so fresh and delicious. The history is incredible. The island interior is stunning, the old towns and ports of the cities are beautiful with great museums, shops and restaurants. The beaches, swimming and snorkelling are just amazing. Thank you for a great holiday. We will be back.

  • A true dream holiday hideout

First of all, the accommodation impressed us all along the line! Everything corresponded in all respects to the information in the advertisement and the expectations it conveyed. Yes, it is really as beautiful on site as shown in the pictures! The villa, situated on a spacious and inconspicuously fenced private property, lies quite a bit (approx. 7 km) inland and at an altitude of approx. 300 metres. However, the paved way to the area is no problem even with a normal car. On the property there are a total of four villas. Two free-standing villas and two directly adjacent villas, whose outer areas are separated by a thick hedge. Villa Argiro is one of the latter, but in our opinion it offers the best view and the best exposure to the evening sun from the west. The morning sun was best enjoyed at breakfast on the nice roof terrace. The accommodation, as well as the whole area around the villas were in an extraordinarily well-kept condition. On our arrival we were warmly welcomed by the very sympathetic owner with a Greek welcome gift basket. A short guided tour and briefing to electrical equipment and gate locking of the property then followed. The cleaning of the accommodation took place after agreement with us each three days, the pool cleaning however daily and discreetly between 7 and 8 o'clock in the morning, which always went unnoticed. Via a telephone in the kitchen at any time contact with the landlord was possible. Internet access via Wi-Fi was stable, but the use of streaming services was limited due to limited bandwidth. Mobile reception and data throughput, on the other hand, were excellent. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday on Crete and in Villa Argiro. In any case, we are sure that they will see us again in the Belvedere Villas and that we will spend more great holidays there in the next years! Patrick & Nadine
