Amazingly spacious, private and tranquil villa, huge pool and wonderful host

                  5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Villa Helidona, it's a beautifully restored old stone house, every room is large and airy, and furnished to create a wonderfully welcoming home from home. The villa is spotlessly clean, with everything you could need to relax and enjoy your stay. Dimitris, your host, is very kind and welcoming, he has provided lots of information in the villa, and will answer any questions you may have during your stay. All the basics are provided in your welcome basket and the local restaurant can deliver your first night's meal of traditional food. A perfect start to the day is a relaxing breakfast under the shade of the lime tree in the old stone courtyard, then through to the sunny pool for a swim. In the evening you can enjoy watching the swallows dipping in the pool. The villa is on the edge of the village, so perfectly private and peaceful, but the village shops, a couple of restaurants and bars are just a few steps away. Everyone in Episkopi was very friendly and helpful. The villa is in a great location to explore Crete, but a car is essential to see the sights - if you do use the bus, timetables show you the start of the journey only, not the times for your stop! Villa Helidona is an amazing place and it was a total pleasure to stay there, we can't recommend it highly enough! Book now, you'll love it. A huge thank you to Dimitris!

                  Fantastic holiday August 2016

                  5 of 5
We generally rent isolated properties but with the children getting older we wanted a location that would allow us to go out for a drink/meal in the evening. The location of Villa Helidona was absolutely perfect. Situated on the edge of a small town it has the benefit of having bars, restaurants, butchers, bakers, small supermarkets, greengrocer etc a few minutes, literally, from the front door but when you enter through the fantastic courtyard and move to the back of the property and the pool area you could be miles from anywhere. It is secluded and beautifully quiet. The nearest beach, mainly populated by Greek families, is only 15 minutes away by car. Here you can watch aeroplanes approaching the airport. That may sound unappealing but I thought it was quite dramatic. Kastri, on the south coast, is approx. 1hr 15mins and Matala approx. 1hr 30mins. The house itself was everything we could have wanted. I loved the courtyard. What a way to enter a property. I want one. The bedrooms were cool and well ventilated. The pool area with its seating and dining areas was excellent. Mr Roumeliotakis was the perfect host, very welcoming and available but only when required. I sincerely hope we get the opportunity to visit again and I would wholeheartedly recommend Villa Helidona.
