Athens is the birthplace of modern civilization as every holiday guide to Athens will proudly point out, and as a result, the list of attractions to explore eclipses the attractions of almost any other city in the world. There are some excellent tours to do from accommodation in Athens, taking in the most famous archaeological treasures within the city, including one of the seven wonders of the world, the Acropolis, as well as Lycabettus Hill, the Theatre of Dionysus, Herodeion, Poseidon’s Temple and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Life in Athens is highly social and fantastically laid back. There are many atmospheric cafes in which to relax, letting the world pass you by. The cafes are always a hive of activity, with a huge amount of entertainment put on. Many Athenians use the cafes as a meeting point before heading to the theatre or a concert, of which there are many throughout the year. Despite the amazing historical attractions of the city, Athens is in fact a bustling, modern place, with some excellent shopping to be done too.

Athens is famous for its nightlife too. Evenings start very late in Athens, with most people heading to a restaurant to start their evening between 9 and 10 in the evening. The many nightclubs of Athens are open late into the night, with cafes, bars and clubs buzzing until well after 3am.

The coastline of Athens, known as the Athenian Riviera, is lined with gorgeous beaches. There are many excellent beaches on which to relax in the sun. This stretch of the coast is also a fantastic place for sailing and windsurfing.

This was a great flat comfortable, clean and relaxing in the heat of Athens.

We had a a really pleasant stay at the Konstantina. Graham was very helpful and gave us some great tips of where to eat and we were never let down by the quality of the food and at a reasonable price. Graham also gave us details of the local taxi app which got us back from the Plaka at the foot of the Acropolis for 5 euros, and also took us to the port of Pireaus for 12 euros. The apartment was spotless and very modern and the location was an easy 20 minute walk to the nearest metro station. We also found the local neighbourhood to be safe, welcoming and authentic.

Fantastic

This must be the best place to stay in Athens. The rooftop terrace with its view of the Acropolis was a dream. Lovely apartment. Bakery for breakfast provisions and small supermarket both just round the corner. I recommend booking the taxi from the airport, the driver was waiting for us and took us directly to the apartment.
