We actually stayed in the Orion house, but they are both the same. The houses are very nicely appointed, fully air-conditioned, great fridge-freezer and with wonderful views from the terrace.
There are a couple of things missing from the houses which would be useful - a toaster and a washing machine (although apparently there is a communal washing machine available for a small fee). The wifi is very flaky, but that is a common issue everywhere in Crete. The TV has only one English-language channel (the ghastly Euronews) and the satellite channels are Greek only.
The management (Artemis, a lovely lady) are very helpful and happy to recommend restaurants in the village of Archanes. They made us a lovely breakfast in the little reception area on our last morning for a very reasonable €10 each.
The pool area is lovely, with very comfortable beds. The pool itself is very cold, though, the price one pays for being so high up in the mountains. We didn't make much use of the pool during our stay as there were families with young, noisy children monopolising it for much of the time, but chose instead to spend our days on one of the many private beaches in Ammoudara, Heraklion.
A car is an absolute essential here. The houses are over 1.5 kms (not 500 meters as in some publicity) from the village, up a series of windy, unmade-up roads - it is most definitely not walkable unless you are are very young and very fit.
That said, the local taxi-driver, Katerina, will pick you up from your house and take you down to the village, and back up again when you're ready, for €10, and into Heraklion for €25. She is lovely, speaks several languages and don't even ask how she manages to manoeuvre her large Merc on those roads!
All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and would happily recommend these Eliathos houses. Please note that all prices quoted are as at July 2015.
