Make a holiday rental villa or apartment in Arcadia, Greece your home away from home

The region of Arcadia lies at the heart Greece’s holiday mecca, the Peloponnese. Regularly cited as having the most beautiful landscapes in the whole of Greece, Arcadia is also one of the oldest, and you could be forgiven for thinking that the hands of time have passed the region without much affect! This really is a region which has something to offer every visitor, and there are never two Arcadia holidays the same, as visitors to the region will not be able to choose between the numerous mountain hikes, historical monuments and secluded beaches in Arcadia.

Things to do in Arcadia, Greece

The numerous mountains of Arcadia are a huge draw for lovers of the great outdoors. Visitors who enjoy walking, trekking and mountaineering fall over themselves to try to find accommodation in Arcadia during much of the year, as the spectacular scenery is crossed with paths and trails, many of which take you to ancient cities, Byzantine Churches and Frankish forts which adorn the skyline.

The coastal stretch of Arcadia is perfectly designed for beach holidays, with the Gulf of Argos consisting of a chain of carved bays and windswept peninsulas. You can choose between popular sand beaches, secluded rock beaches and mud beaches (the full body mud packs at Nea Kios are reported to have healing properties for the skin).

Places to holiday in Arcadia, Greece

Xiropigado is a wonderful seaside resort in Arcadia, close to both sandy coves and pebble beaches. Many people taking Arcadia accommodation will visit the village as an antidote to the frenzied lifestyle of many of the Greek resorts and larger cities. Xiropigado is an extremely natural place to be, where you can eat freshly produced ingredients, swim in the sea or go hiking in the mountains, all totally unspoilt by the speed and ease of modern life.

Argos, the oldest continually inhabited town in the whole of Europe, is an essential place to visit during your stay in Arcadia accommodation. Surrounding the town are ancient treasures, from palaces to fortresses, which tell the tale of over 5,000 years of occupation. However, Argos is not only for those who love items from years gone by. There is a very healthy shopping area in Argos too.

Levidi is the ideal holiday destination for serious walkers. Located high in the mountains, Arcadia holiday homes in Levidi are the base for some of the best mountain trekking.

Ideal spot with a lovely pool

4 of 5
Everything you could want, short walk to the beach, tavernas, short ride to Leonidio or Tyros - plenty of things to do and to come back to a wallow in the pool - a delight. Dimitris and Eleni were very helpful and were available to answer any questions - communication was very good.

Absolutely charming and delightful!

Just back from a wonderful week at Clelia’s villa. The house is perfect, very well equipped, spread over three levels, especially the patio arrangement with pool, breath-taking view, sun or shade as you prefer, and two beaches you can walk down to within 10 minutes through the olive terraces. Most of all though, based on many, many years of renting holiday properties, I have to say Clelia was outstanding in the way in which she took real trouble to make our visit a pleasure – sending detailed directions on how to get there, advice on where to shop, stocking up beforehand on coffee, oranges, bread, olives, food, water, wine, and greeting us with drinks and freshly made aubergine dip and tzatziki. A really enjoyable stay, and one I’d totally recommend.
