  • Beautiful Pristine Villa Located in Small Village
    5 of 5

My husband and I chose this villa because we wanted to experience life in a small Cretan village. We awoke each morning to a rooster crowing. The property has several outdoor living spaces perfect for relaxing amidst the manicured grounds and enjoying the surrounding views. The owner, George, and his family were warm and so generous. There were fresh flowers, a fruit basket, olive oil, honey, wine and raki on the kitchen table when we arrived. These gifts were all bounty from this industrious family’s labor. George's wife, Manolia, maintains the villa so well, that even after 10 years, it still looks new inside. We had expressed to George our desire to experience Cretan culture. Midway through the first week George invited us to his friend's 50th birthday at a mountaineering lodge near the summit of the highest mountain in Crete, Silorites. We went and experienced a traditional Cretan feast, folk music and dancing as well as amazing views . George's son Kostas owns the vacation rental management company, Etouri, which manages the villa. His company provided excellent customer service through the holiday advisors available 24/7 via an internet telephone line. Eleni, the Holiday Advisor assigned to us, is a Greek American and a joy to work with! She provided helpful information like cost of tickets, hours of operation, GPS coordinates and even understanding of Cretan mores when needed. There are 2 things future guests should be aware of: 1) The plumbing pipes in Greece are narrower than in the US and therefore you cannot throw toilet paper into the toilet. Toilet paper must be placed in a trashcan. This was true everywhere we went in Greece. 2) The internet is prone to go down at random times in Greece. To avoid frustration, it is best to plan ahead. I had gotten into a routine of waiting until the morning of to touch base with Eleni. One morning the internet went down so I put the name of the city in the GPS instead of the coordinates and 3 hours later we completed what should have been a 40 minute journey. If you can flex and not sweat the small stuff; you will have a great vacation! I cannot say enough good things about this villa, this beautiful family, and the support staff at Etouri. Thank you George, Manolia, Kostas, Yannis and Eleni for assisting in the creation of a beautiful holiday! Mieko Zarubin, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, USA

Beautiful and immaculate villa surrounded by gorgeous mountain views! So peaceful and serene! Manolis was a gracious host and went above and beyond what was expected before and during our stay. We enjoyed good conversation and appreciated his knowledge and interest in sharing the history of his island and making suggestions of highlights in central Crete to visit. Everything about the house was perfect - the beds were comfortable, the sheets were wonderful, every amenity was present, the kitchen had everything that was needed and the food that greeted us was generous and lovely! Rumy welcomed us and was very attentive to our needs. It was a treat to enjoyed her cooking two traditional Greek dinners for us. So fresh and delicious! We departed with fond memories. I have nothing but praise and would love to return for a month! Mahalo Manolis and Rumy!
