Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in Agia Pelagia, Crete your home away from home

Agia Pelagia is a charming village on the North Coast of Crete, just 22km from the regional capital, Heraklion. Located in a region of real beauty, and known for its authentic Greek charm, a villa in Agia Pelagia is a wonderful place to get away and relax, blessed with peace, natural beauty, genuine culture and almost endless sunshine.

Things to do in Agia Pelagia, Crete

Of course, Agia Pelagia holidays are largely focused on the beach. Agia Pelagia villas are well catered for beaches, with a huge range located within a short drive of Agia Pelagia apartments and villas. Agia Pelagia beach itself is actually one of the finest in the whole of Heraklion, and if you are in an Agia Pelagia villa for a week, most people will not even think to explore any of the neighbouring sands. However, if you do manage to tear yourself away from the beautifully soft sands of Agia Pelagia beach, Amoudara, Kalamaki and Malia beaches are all well worth exploring.

Many people descend on Agia Pelagia apartments for the excellent sailing and windsurfing conditions for which the area is known. You can take lessons from the beach front, or for those with more confidence, equipment hire is also available. Scuba diving is also extremely popular from Agia Pelagia villas, with wonderfully clear Mediterranean waters and plenty to catch the eye.

Places to visit from a villa in Agia Pelagia, Crete

The Heraklion region is also one of great cultural significance. The Archaeological Museum, Minos Winery Museum and the fascination Lchnostatis Museum are all well worth a visit on an Agia Pelagia holiday, and for those with a cultural or historical interest, the regional capital, also called Heraklion, is certainly worth giving a day to.

However, if you prefer peace and quiet in abundant beauty, the ancient villages of Kamilari and Pitsidia will certainly not disappoint. Surrounded by unspoilt countryside, and filled with culture and history, you may amaze yourself at what you can find tucked among the narrow streets. These both offer an excellent place to experience Cretan food from your self catering Agia Pelagia holiday villa.

Weather in Agia Pelagia, Crete

With such a magnificent Mediterranean climate, it is little wonder that Agia Pelagia holiday villas are in such high demand. The summers seem almost endless, with daily peak temperatures pushing the 30C mark right through from May until late September.

Beautiful views, well presented villa, good location

5 of 5
Stayed here at the end of June 2018. We were a group of eight adults and one baby. The four bedrooms are very well presented and have the added bonus of air conditioning, as does the rest of the villa. There was plenty of storage space in all of the bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms open onto the terrace with the fourth being at the back of the villa. The fourth bedroom appeared somewhat dark as it only had one window which was above head height so does not benefit from the panoramic views enjoyed from the other three bedrooms. The main indoor living space is situated on the first floor. It took us a while to get used to going upstairs, from the outside eating terrace which is on the ground floor, to get drinks and food but its only one flight of stairs and good exercise on what was otherwise a very lazy holiday! Access to the terrace and pool is either via the bedrooms or out through the front door and around the side of the building which means walking down a reasonable steep slope so we stuck with walking through one of the bedrooms. There is a staff office just up the hill from the villa and everyone was very helpful and pleasant. If you need anything they will go out of their way to help you to ensure that your stay is as pleasant as possible. The grounds to the villa are kept very clean, with the cleaner coming most days to wash the patio areas. Bed linen was also changed once during our eight night stay and so were the bathroom towels. Beach towels are provided but, as explained when we arrived, these were not changed during our stay. There is however a washing machine and dishwasher which both came in very handy during our time at the villa. The villa is well situated for visiting a number of local beaches but you do need a car. The local Taverna is about an eight minute down hill walk away. Yes, this does mean that its uphill on the way back - not an easy walk as some of it is up a dirt track and it is quite steep so we couldn't take the babies pushchair via this route. The Taverna delivers food to the villa - we chose this option one night and the food arrived hot and was of a good standard. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our memories of the amazing sunrises and sunsets which can be seen from the villa balconies and terraces will stay with us for a long time to come.
