Fabulous villa, fabulous location

5 of 5
The villa is fabulous, still new and shiny and the build, fittings (windows - all with fly screens- doors, kitchen, etc) all to a very high standard. The gardens are excellent, immaculate and very well maintained. Just outside the garden, lots of trees with birds and wildlife and the flowers in the garden attracted butterflies. The entrance drive looks great, but is a little tight the first time you go in, in a large 4-wheeler, but we got used to it! The view from the garden and terrace are amazing day and night. The pool is not huge but big enough for two. It doesn't have a deep end so not good for diving. Pool cleaned every morning. Garden also has loungers and parasols. Villa Anemone also has a barbecue. Villa cleaned and linen changed midweek. TV in lounge with Satellite and a TV in the bedroom; Greek channels but we found UK and US programmes with the original sound and Greek sub-titles, but you don't go to Crete to watch TV. Wifi was good - we had two iPads and two phones connected. Excellent air-conditioning. There is a safe. The hosts were very nice and friendly and greeted us when we arrived, and left us a welcome pack of cheese, olives, bread, wine, tea, coffee, etc; brought us some home grown vegetables during the week; and came to say goodbye when we left. Bali is a good half hour walk down, probably more coming back up-hill especially in the heat (or heels!) but the local taxi company (the owners gave us the card - Vasilis Maris ++30 6986 272886) was very helpful pleasant and cheap. Bali is a quirky resort, very long, twisty, up and down, and narrow, but a good choice of restaurants and bars for all tastes and prices. Especially try the old town/harbour and Evita Bay. Beaches vary in quality and crowded-ness, so it depends what you like; some water sports and kiddies water inflatables, etc. But with such a lovely villa, gardens, terrace and pool you are happy at home to be honest. We had a car and explored beaches along the coast between Bali and Rethymno; and the south coast, Plakias, Shinaria, Amoudi, Damnoni, etc. We found a lovely taverna on the road towards Rethymno, less than five minutes drive, on top of a hill and curve in the road; fabulous views towards Bali, decent food. The villa owners son Manos, works in a bar/restaurant called Porto Paradiso where we ended up most nights for a night-cap. And his brother was also there during his break from national service. Would we recommend it? We most certainly would.

Beautiful stone villa with fantastic views of sea and mountains.

5 of 5
Fantastic villa in the hills above the beach. If you like sitting watching the sun set over the mountains then this place is perfect - just like the photos. Owner and agent were friendly and helpful. Only niggle was construction work down the hill about half a mile away - I suspect though that we were unlucky to coincide with early drilling and the wind from the north - I doubt this would be a problem next week. We had an excellent holiday. Thanks.
