A Road Less Travelled....

4 of 5
The property was perfect for what we wanted, i.e. village location - local place to eat and drink within walking distance. It was in a beautiful area - ideal for access to numerous walk ways of varying lengths and also a short drive to the Bavarian Forest National Park (highly recommended). It's a hidden gem as there really were not many people around in the area in August.

Beautiful area

5 of 5
Really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful area - I am surprised it does not attract more visitors from outside Germany. The Old Custom House is situated in a remote and lovely spot in the peace of the forest but still accessible to many places of interest. Passau and Deggendorf should not be missed and it is only a short drive into Czechoslovakia. The nearby Gasthaus does excellent food and the area is perfect for walkers. The accommodation was comfortable (although there was no microwave although the description said there was) and we appreciated the fresh bread that was delivered each morning. We hope to return!
