Make a holiday rental in Lower Rhine, Germany your home away from home

Lower Rhine holiday accommodation is set in a region of the Federal German state of North Rhine Westphalia. It’s an area of picturesque rural scenery, while also encompassing some of the state’s most important cities, including Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Mönchengladbach.

Things to do in Lower Rhine, Germany

Düsseldorf would be a great starting point during your holiday at Lower Rhine self-catering accommodation. One of the most famous parts of this city is the Altstadt, which despite being destroyed in the war, was reconstructed according to the original medieval plans, and today is home to the city’s best shopping and nightlife. There are some 260 bars crammed into little more than one square kilometre.

Duisburg is set on the fringes of the region, and would be well worth visiting from self-catering accommodation in Lower Rhine. Historically this city played a crucial role as an inland harbour, thanks to waterways the snake across the region. You can find out about this network at the German Inland Waterways Museum. There are a host of historic churches in the city, such as St John the Baptist, which dates to the 10th Century, and Duisburg is also noted for its botanical gardens – Kaiserberg and Suisburh-Hamborn.

You could also make the trip from Lower Rhine holiday rentals to the town of Krefeld, which is the site of the impressive Castle Linn. It sits on the banks of the Rhine, enclosed by a moat, and dates to the 1100s. The Linn district of Krefeld is also attractive, with plenty of authentic medieval architecture that has avoided any damage throughout the region’s tumultuous history.

                                        Great house with lovely views

The property is smart, comfortable and well equipped. The view out is lovely and the lake was interesting even when the weather was rainy. Xanten is a charming town and the archaeological park is well worth a visit. Even though we had to cut short our stay because of a family emergency, we managed to visit Kleve, Arnhem and Nijmegen, which are all quite close as well as a longer trip to Koln.

Where do you start....Lovely looking on the outside and even better inside. The house has everything you require and much more. We would have no problem telling others to rent the house. Hope to see you's again..
